Assembly-Worker

Time Lord Naming

New 16 Nov 2023 Asked by sirpidge 36 Comments

A question about the doctor who UB, why isn't the time lord creature type hyphenated like Assembly-Worker?

When working with an existing property you respect how the property does things. Time Lord isn’t hyphenated.

Time Lord Exception

New 10 Oct 2023 Asked by dapuppers 35 Comments

Hi Mark! Does “Time Lord” being a two-word, unhyphenated creature type raise the likelihood of other such creature types being made? Does it change your thoughts on unhyphenating Assembly-Worker, or combining Eldrazi Spawn (for example) into one?

Nothing is changing because of Time Lord. It’s a special rare exception.

Hyphenated Types Request

Could you pass along a request to convert previous hyphenated types like Power-Plant and Assembly-Worker into non-hyphenated forms?

Time Lord is not meant to be a precedent.

Time Lord Hyphenation

New 21 Jul 2023 Asked by armadagon 53 Comments

I understand making "Time Lord" a single creature type for Doctor Who, but why wasn't it hyphenated like "Assembly-Worker"? This feels like it will cause a problem in the future, especially if there's a two-word type that shares a word with an existing creature type.

If a word is part of a two word creature type, it’s not allowed to be a single word creature type.EDIT: Sorry, I don’t know why it isn’t hyphenated.I’m 100% sure it was discussed and rejected.

Brothers' War Subtheme

You had mentioned before that this blog had an impact on a subtheme in Brothers' War. Was that the Assembly-Worker synergies?

The “Soldier matters” theme.

Artifact-worker or assembly-worker?

Assembly-Worker. It was a mistake I’ve corrected.

Request for More Assembly-Workers

New 20 Apr 2022 Asked by frozentoday 42 Comments

May I request more Assembly-Workers in the future? Perhaps with some tribal synergy? They're my favorite creature type and I would love to see them get more support

I too have a soft spot for Assembly-Workers. I’d like to see more.

Assembly-Worker Tribal Theme Chances

New 08 Jan 2022 Asked by frozentoday 48 Comments

Quite a long shot, I know, but what are the chances of Assembly-Workers having a larger tribal theme in a set? I know it sounds a bit silly, but Assembly-Workers are one of my favorite creature types and I would like to see them get more love.

It would require a very specific set, but I never say never.

Unique Creatures Production Frequency

"1) There are also a bunch lower down on the scale. We have a lot of unique things to Magic.2) A bunch you have listed aren’t unique to Magic (like noggle or ouphe)." Which unique creatures are lower on the scale besides Slivers? And even those are only in supplemental sets at this point. I didn't know those weren't unique to magic, but the point is still the same; you guys seem to produce the more interesting looking and less generic creatures less often.

The original Magic creature types: Aetherborn, Assembly-Worker, Atog, Azra, Beeble, Blinkmoth, Bringer, Brushwagg, Camarid, Cephalid, Eldrazi, Fractal, Graveborn, Homarid, Inkling, Kavu, Kithkin, Kor, Lhurgoyf, Licid, Masticore, Metathran, Myr, Nightstalker, Orgg, Pentavite, Pest, Phelddagrif, Phyrexian, Praetor, Rigger, Saproling, Slith, Sliver, Soltari, Spellshaper, Spike, Surrakar, Tetravite, Thalakos, Triskelavite, Vedalken, Viashino, Volver, and Zubera.A bunch of those have appeared on new cards in the last five years.

You may.

Assembly-Workers Without Contraptions

New 15 Sep 2016 Asked by gatvin 82 Comments

Let me get this straight. You put assembly-workers in a set that can't assemble contraptions? For shame Maro! (JK, I'm happy to have more assembly workers.)

Kaladesh has assembling. It doesn’t have contraptions. : )

Assembly-Worker! There's a creature type I did not expect to see again. I always enjoy throwbacks like this.

Record-Setting Card Names

New 22 Jul 2016 Asked by apocalypticfluffy 28 Comments

So currently the biggest black-bordered card name is the Brazilian version of Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho (Detentora do Juramento, Daisho de Takeno), 40 letters/spaces/comma tied with the Spanish version of Godo, Bandit Warlord (Godo, señor de la guerra de los bandidos), however "Detentora do Juramento, Daisho de Takeno" has less spaces so I guess it wins. Other than that the biggest creature type is also Brazilian in Assembly-Worker (Operario-de-Linha-de-Montagem). I'll make one for standard.

Contraptions and Assembly-Workers

New 09 Aug 2015 Asked by greatwahooney 14 Comments

When eventually you figure out contraptions, is it reasonable to expect Assembly-Workers in the same set?

No. It’s not impossible but far from a foregone conclusion.
