Creature Type Changes

New 04 Nov 2023 Asked by tomwpost 42 Comments

What's the likelihood of A) cephalids being changed to octopus, B) viashino being changed to lizard, or C) homarids & camarids being changed to crab?

It is a topic that has come up on numerous occasions, so there’s a chance.

Camarids vs Homarids

New 03 Mar 2022 Asked by llanowarminotaur 37 Comments

On the subject of Homarids, there is also the rarely-used creature type Camarid, which appears only as tokens made by Homarid Spawning Bed and Sarpadian Empires, Vol VII. My understanding is that a Camarid is merely a juvenile Homarid - if (when) Homarids return, would you keep Camarid as a separate type, or merge it into Homarid? If it were kept, what are the chances of seeing a non-token creature with the Camarid type?

Camarid is a rare case of the juvenile version of a creature being a different creature type. If we brought Camarids back, they would just be Homarids.

Unique Creatures Production Frequency

"1) There are also a bunch lower down on the scale. We have a lot of unique things to Magic.2) A bunch you have listed aren’t unique to Magic (like noggle or ouphe)." Which unique creatures are lower on the scale besides Slivers? And even those are only in supplemental sets at this point. I didn't know those weren't unique to magic, but the point is still the same; you guys seem to produce the more interesting looking and less generic creatures less often.

The original Magic creature types: Aetherborn, Assembly-Worker, Atog, Azra, Beeble, Blinkmoth, Bringer, Brushwagg, Camarid, Cephalid, Eldrazi, Fractal, Graveborn, Homarid, Inkling, Kavu, Kithkin, Kor, Lhurgoyf, Licid, Masticore, Metathran, Myr, Nightstalker, Orgg, Pentavite, Pest, Phelddagrif, Phyrexian, Praetor, Rigger, Saproling, Slith, Sliver, Soltari, Spellshaper, Spike, Surrakar, Tetravite, Thalakos, Triskelavite, Vedalken, Viashino, Volver, and Zubera.A bunch of those have appeared on new cards in the last five years.

Multiple Creature Types Feasibility

New 19 Feb 2019 Asked by wilsonosgoodmcman 35 Comments

Camarids are larval Homarids, yet they have their own creature type (albeit only represented on tokens). Would it be possible to see races in the future where because of dramatic differences between different parts of that race, be it through a metamorphosis or dimorphism, that the race is represented by multiple creature types (such as human and giant)? Or would this be a bad idea?

I don’t think Camarids are a precedent for anything.

you said that legendary homarids would finally show, but as a True Homarid Fan i have to ask, is there finally going to be a legendary camarid as well?

They’re actually half-Homarid, half-Camarid.

It was my Birthday but I was too sick to ask for trivia. So I'm asking it belatedly: Could I have Trivia for the best and most under-loved tribe ever? Homarids? like why the heck was deep spawn just a lobster?!

Little baby Homarids are called Camarids.Happy Belated Birthday!

How come we don't see more support for Camarid tokens?

The lack of player demand for it.

Homarid Podcast Appeal

New 08 Mar 2013 Asked by loreleywrites 34 Comments

Could you do a podcast on Homarids? Camarids can come too.

I don’t know. There’s a pretty limited audience for that topic. Dedicating a whole podcast to it might be a little shellfish.
