Possibility of Kindred Creature Cards

New 06 Jul 2024 Asked by thunderweb 5 Comments

Can Creature cards have Kindred, like "Kindred Creature - Brushwagg"?(I know it won't do much, unless I play cards like Embiggen.)

Creature cards would not have the Kindred card type as it’s not needed.

Concern About Creature Type Changes

New 12 Jun 2024 Asked by wildcardgamez 21 Comments

Re: drawing the line for humanoid type changes. Doesn't that mean Naga shouldn't be changed? They aren't an original mtg name. Also, I feel like getting rid of types just because the fantasy races were made by you guys and not storytellers of the past is a bit sad. There are a lot of creatures original to magic that I hope don't go anywhere, like Brushwaggs and Atogs which could be beasts, and Myr or Sliths that could be constructs, or an extreme that I doubt will happen, Eldrazi to horrors. It feels more special.

We’re not getting rid of original creatures we made up. Those will remain. We’re just being consistent with how we treat made-up animal humanoids. Again, a change we made in the late 1990’s.

Brushwagg has been making too many appearances lately, don't you think?Isn't that a good thing because it comes out every once in a while?

You made Brushwagg cry.

Unlikely Set Humor

Can we get a “no” on the next Premier Set being an all-blue set taking place in real-world Sacramento, California where every creature is a brushwagg?

Maybe. : )

Brushwagg Homarids Concern

New 02 Apr 2024 Asked by strymon 25 Comments

Wouldn’t printing Brushwagg Homarids put Magic at risk of needing to push the minimum age up past “13-and-up”?

We’re being edgier. And pointier.

Homarids Everywhere

New 01 Apr 2024 Asked by fencepostmagpie 57 Comments

I heard a rumour that Duskmourne is going to be the first set where every creature is a Homarid. Is that true?

It is. What’s scarier than a set full of Homarids? Skeleton Homarids, Zombie Homarids, Brushwagg Homarids, etc.

Brushwaggs' Secret

New 01 Apr 2024 Asked by parkmaniatheoriginal 40 Comments

With the full spoiler for OTJ out, I have to say: the choice of "non-Brushwagg" on Embiggen suddenly seems less random. Any comments?

The Brushwaggs know what they did.

Eldrazi's Status

New 01 Apr 2024 Asked by nite0304 32 Comments

So, wait, does that mean Eldrazi are being replaced with, what, horror? Or are they like the Brushwagg?

The Eldrazi will remain the Eldrazi.

It is not. It is an original creature.

Does the re-emergence of brushwagg in previous sets mean anything for the future of beebles?

I’m not sure the two are connected.

Odd Creature Types Plane

New 08 Sep 2023 Asked by livbrazilian 38 Comments

how likely is that we could get a plane with only odd/less printed creature types? for example: brushwagg; zubera; kavu's ... etc

That’s what I did in Odyssey. It didn’t go well (as we didn’t plan as ahead as we do now and didn’t know Onslaught was going to be typal).I think we like to find spots for new and less used creature types, but as this blog shows there are a lot of existing favorites that need their time in the sun.

Birthday Double Query

hello, its my birthday so im going to abuse this fact to ask 2 questions to you (if thats ok with you)

1: What creature/planeswalker/character can do the most pushups?

2: Grist is my favorite planeswalker and i do very much enjoy her unique design. do i have any more cool bugs to look forward to or is that well dry?

  1. Brushwaggs are amazing at pushups, although it’s hard to tell.
  2. There will be more cool bugs.
Happy Birthday!

Creature Type Silliness

It probably varies person to person. I find Brushwaggs pretty funny. EDIT: Oops, read that wrong. Least funny? Advisor. : )

Magic-Con Secret Code

New 17 Feb 2023 Asked by anonleoleo 41 Comments

Hi Mark, one of the highlights of my year last year was seeing you at MagicCon Vegas. Are you going to have a similar "Blogatog code" for attendees you see at Philly?

I will. The Blogatog secret message for Magic-Con Philly is “Phyrexian Brushwagg”.Note less than ten people at Magic 30 in Vegas said the secret code to me. Let’s see if we can break that record in Philly.

Specific Buff Spells

New 25 Oct 2022 Asked by wildcardgamez 26 Comments

Since we have a spell that specifically can't buff Brushwaggs (and Changelings) we should get a spell that buffs only Brushwaggs (and Changelings).

All things do not have to be equal.

Card Concept Line

New 21 Oct 2022 Asked by j-waffles 36 Comments

Where is the line between asking for a concept of a card like “black border staying power” or “Brushwagg tribal commander” vs. giving unsolicited designs (this space intentionally left blank)? How much detail goes into a request for a concept before it crosses the line? Can I request what colors I want the brushwagg commander to be? Can I ask for types of abilities (ex. “can the totally real brushwagg commander reanimate my dead brushwaggs?”)? It feels like a lot of times people say “could there ever be a card that …” as a way to give suggestions without TECHNICALLY doing that. So I just wanted to ask if you could more clearly talk about it and where the line is between requests and suggestions.

You can ask for themes and colors, but don’t go into specificity about how to make it.
