Enchantment Creatures and Creature Types

New 26 Feb 2022 Asked by lookingupanddown 54 Comments

If/when enchantment creatures become evergreen, would there be enchantment creature-exclusive creature types (like artifact creatures have exclusive types like Golem and Juggernaut)? If yes, what do you think they would be?

If we started over, I think all Illusions would be enchantment creatures. Moving forward, I assume it will be based upon the world, and yes, I can see us making a new creature type that us only an enchantment creature.

Creature Infect Damage Quirk

New 04 Jul 2021 Asked by howdidigethereimnotgoodwithmagic 50 Comments

Did it ever seem weird that if a large creature got infect that it only did infect damage to a player and not regular damage to a player? Like imagine you're sitting there at 1 life, bloodied and battered from this duel, when in comes Phyrexian Juggernaut crushing down on you unblocked. AANNDD hey, you're okay, he didn't hurt you at all, you just feel a bit poisoned...

Magic is full of flavor quirks based on mechanical necessities.

Desire for Design Insights

I miss Latest Developments, it was a great Ying to the Making Magic Yang. I know we do get some set design/play design articles and I am not out here assuming that the resources/time is just magically around for another weekly article juggernaut, and it may be that the readership just wasn't as interested in those sort of articles. Or it may be that I am missing some because my eyes are immediately drawn to article series titles. Any chance for more regular set/play design spotlight?

The issue is having an author(s) interested in producing the content. Writing a weekly column is very hard. I’m an oddball. I like writing and don’t get bored doing the same thing week after week. It’s a hard thing to find.

Dominaria Drafting

New 22 Apr 2018 Asked by phyrexianperspective 31 Comments

I had the most fun in drafting Dominaria at the prerelease that I've had in a decade. Never once was I bored or not having fun. Old classics like Juggernaut, Thorn Elemental and Icy Manipulator performed well with the new cards and meshed seamlessly. I purchased four boxes today and completed the set. That is the most I've ever purchased in one day for Magic. Kudos all around, fantastic, fantastic product. The minor gripes I have are utterly dwarfed by my enjoyment of the set.

I’m happy you’re so happy.

Juggernaut and Wall Mechanics

New 13 Apr 2018 Asked by frikkinerd-blog 46 Comments

Does having Juggernaut in a set necessaruly mean a Wall is in the set? We know both are in Dominara.

We would usually have a Wall if we had a Juggernaut.

Juggernaut's Color Identity

New 14 Nov 2015 Asked by shadowman2099 29 Comments

What color is the Juggernaut from X-Men. I want to say he's on the brutish side of Mono-Black.

I’d say the most known comic incarnation is Black/Red.

Future Juggernauts

Is it possible we can see more and better juggernauts? It's my favorite underused creature type.

It is possible.

Keywording Must Attack

New 29 Aug 2015 Asked by bellpopper 19 Comments

Do you feel the Juggernaut's "must attack" ability could be keyworded/evergreen-ed? Would it be worth it? Something like "relentless".

We do not need to keyword negative creature abilities. Defender is a special case.

Squirrel Army Confusion

So I was watching Ultimate Spiderman, and the opening of the episode had a hero with a squirrel army that took down the Juggernaut.

I don’t understand the squirrel refusal.

Why is volatile rig not a juggernaut?

Um, because it’s a construct.

Juggernaut Blob Reference

New 18 Oct 2012 Asked by gentilico-deactivated20210309 3 Comments

MaRo, I'm very disappointed you didn't make a joke about Juggernaut and The Blob in your article about the innovative drive vs the conservative instinct. Or did you do and I was not worthy of catching the reference?

Of nostalgia and innovation, when one is the unstoppable force and which one is the immovable object? I’m all for making X-Men references whenever possible but the metaphor did not line up well enough.

Artwork Confusion

New 09 May 2012 Asked by blakenjudge 9 Comments

I think Dark Ascension and Innistrad deserves to be remembered for being a superb Limited format. It's almost flawless, but I can't give it 10/10 because I always confuse Geist-Catcher's Rig and Galvanic Juggernaut. Sorry ;)

So we lose out on 10/10 because the name and/or art is too similar? Harsh.
