Color Pie Shifts

New 04 Sep 2023 Asked by theuninvitedghost 35 Comments

“It’s not a break, but, on average, green is better at large team boosts than white.” This answer surprised me, as I thought that white was now the go wide with lots of little creatures color, no longer green, and I figured that Moonshaker Cavalry was the start of white getting the sort of Craterhoof/Overrun type effects that green had when it was more the color of lots of little creatures. So this is not indicative of the start of a color pie change to match up with other color pie changes?

White is more about boosting a lot of little creatures a little where green is the color that does big boosts.

White's Overrun Effects

Is white allowed to get large Overrun effects now or is Moonshaker Cavalry a break in the colour pie?

It’s not a break, but, on average, green is better at large team boosts than white.

Birthday Trivia!!! As the Un-Expert, what is your favorite story element in Unfinity? One that made it to a card, or just your head canon. Thank you for all you do for this amazing game

I love the theme that the park is overrun with four different infestations: Beeble, Gremlin, Rat, and Squirrel. Happy Birthday!

Unfinity Draft Thrill

Mark! I am a long-time but mostly dormant player and just wanted you to know that I am buying more Unfinity than I probably should. Looking forward to reading about the draft archetypes and building a cube.

I’m glad you’re excited. Here are the draft archetypes: White/Blue - Names and names stickers matter evasion (caring about names to give you effects that let you break through)Blue/Black - Precision die rolling control (effects, including Attractions, that care about die rolling and dice manipulation cards to help you slowly gain control of the game) Black/Red - High rolling matters bleeder (cards, including Attractions that reward you for rolling high, slowly nipping away at your opponent)Red/Green - Mass die rolling mid range (getting rewarded for rolling as many dice per turn as possible while hitting your curve)Green/White - Ability stickers matter build-up (making your creatures stronger and stronger until you overrun the opponent)White/Black - Hat recursion (caring about hats and getting things back from the graveyard) Blue/Red - Art stickers and spells matter tempo (casting spells and stickering art cards net you tempo advantage) Black/Green - Attractions matter go big (opening as many attractions as possible and gaining advantage from visiting them frequently) Red/White - Clown Robot aggro (play a lot of Robots and attack)Green/Blue - Power/toughness sticker ramp (create a lot of mana/stickers and grow your creatures large)

Is Overrun still in-pie for Green, or would that effect have to be multicolored now?

Still in pie for green.

Impact of Limited on Designs

New 28 Sep 2021 Asked by honor-basquiat 35 Comments

To follow up further on the potential benefits of boosters without Limited in mind, are the following examples of things we don't get much of in large part because of limited? More mono colored cards with triple and quadruple mana symbols in their cost. Constructed viable dual lands at lower rarities. Higher toughness creatures are lower rarities. More multicolored designs without relying on high as-fan of mana fixing. More Overrun effects.

Even without limited, we have to be conscious of casual constructed. Normally, the two overlap enough that taking care of one takes care of the other. If we got of limited, we still have to take care of casual constructed, so most of what you list here still couldn’t happen.
