Rabid Bite

Color Pie Mechanics

In regards to rabid bite but for planeswalkers, doesn’t this already exist on Vivien, Arkbow Ranger from M20? Thus it has already gone thru the council of colors?

Things can sneak through. Also, our thoughts on the color pie evolve with time.

Followup: why would a rabid bite that hits planeswalkers need to go through the council of colors? It seems very green, using creatures for solutions. Or is it just that it hasnt been done yet and thus needs to be talked out?

It’s not just a matter of “does it feel right?”. Whenever we’re messing around with giving a color a new tool for dealing with a certain card type, we have to walk through what implications it might have.

May I request a rabid bite for green that can hit planeswalkers please?

The Council of Colors will have to chat about it.

Red Fight Mechanic

Could red get an instant or sorcery that is just a simple fight effect (like Prey Upon) or one-sided fight (like Rabid Bite)?

It would probably be a sorcery, but yes to both.

Are one sided fight effects such as Rabid Bite no longer used in red?

It’s primary green, secondary red now.

Green's Mechanical Flaw

New 25 Nov 2016 Asked by fridgealarm 47 Comments

What is the mechanical weakness of Green? Green can destroy all card types (e.g. Beast Within and Bramblecrush + Rabid Bite) Green can generate mass card advantage (Collected Company, Praetor's Counsel) can tutor for lands & creatures or look and take cards from top of the deck like Black or Blue. It has efficient creatures of all sizes with trample, hexproof, deathtouch, flash, indestructible, vigilance, haste, tapping for mana, lure effect, curiosity effect, reach, infect and sometimes flying.

Green is over-reliant on its creatures. For instance, its creature removal and card drawing is tied to its creatures.

Green Removal Tools

New 12 Apr 2016 Asked by octopusma 30 Comments

Green has received a ton of removal recently from Beast Within to Rabid Bite. Green was good at artifact/enchantment removal, but they get great creature removal too? You can't cite Desert Twister because you say old cards usually break the pie and I think this is the case here. I'm frustrated that Green gets these tools but you still deny Red answers to Enchantments. Worship plus Hexproof is pretty frustrating for example. Any reason for the favoritism?

Creatures are a much more prevalent threat (especially in limited) than enchantments.
