Hexproof and Un-Games

New 13 Jun 2024 Asked by culation 4 Comments

CR 702.1c states that "the same is true for" effects apply to each of a keyword's variants separately. 702.11g states that "hexproof from each " is shorthand for one variant of hexproof per possible quality of that characteristic. This means in non-Un games, discarding Breaker of Creation (which has hexproof from each color) to Indominus Rex, Alpha gives five counters and thus draws five cards. How many cards do you draw in an Un game? (In particular, does every eye color count?)

In Un-games, when counting colors, you count the five normal colors plus any color of permanents you have. You have the gold Dragon token from Sword of Dungeons & Dragons, you’re now at six. You also have a brown Avatar of Me, you’re now at seven. You have a pink Teddy bear counter from Gift Shop, you’re now at eight.

Token Choice Justification

>We did look to swap the Teddy Bear to cards that were already acorn. There unfortunately wasn’t another good token choice for either Gift Shop or Push Your Luck.Couldn't you use the 2/2 Black Zombie Employee token? Almost functionally identical only real difference is a mild flavor stretch you could make a "free monkeys" style joke out of.

Winning employees from the park as a prize was not a flavor we were willing to do.

Teddy Bear Tokens

New 24 Sep 2022 Asked by sobek16 44 Comments

Why did you make cards have pink teddy bear tokens if they could have been a “regular” magic color and this eternal legal?

The eternal decision was made late and the Teddy Bear token frame and art were done and we’d already chosen Water Gun Balloon Game as our release day promo and it has a pink Teddy Bear creature token (although 5/5). We did look to swap the Teddy Bear to cards that were already acorn. There unfortunately wasn’t another good token choice for either Gift Shop or Push Your Luck.

Prize Attraction Acorn Reason

Are all prize attractions acorn? If so, why?

Most prize attractions are acorn because they involve dexterity or outside assistance. Two are because they teddy bear prizes are pink.

Acorn Cards Pink Teddy

New 23 Sep 2022 Asked by andy1503 18 Comments

With Attractions like Gift Shop and Push Your Luck what was the decision behind having those cards be acorn? I know they both make pink creatures but i was curious if there was a deeper reason.

Nope. It’s solely because the teddy bear is pink.

Push Your Luck Acorn

New 23 Sep 2022 Asked by wildcardgamez 20 Comments

Is Push Your Luck only acorn because it makes bear tokens? It doesn't seem like it does anything that'd break rules

The teddy bear is pink.

Transguild Courier Colors in Un-game

New 08 Mar 2020 Asked by jimmycomments 57 Comments

In an Un-game, how many colours is Transguild Courier? 9? (WUBRG + Pink, Gold, Brown, and Hazel?)

In silver border, the five main colors (white, blue, black, red, and green) always exist. Other colors exist when a card makes them exist. If you have a pink teddy bear, pink exists. Because of Avatar of Me and the ruling that you can wear contact lenses, all colors potentially exist, so things that care about color don’t care about potential, but what currently exists - with the caveat that the main five always exist.

Calculating Mana from Tokens

New 08 Mar 2020 Asked by snowcoveredplainswalker 35 Comments

Hey Mark! If I have Faeburrow Elder and a 5 color creature on board as well as a pink Giant Teddy Bear token and a gold Dragon token, do I make 5 mana or 7?

7.

Use of Gender Neutral Names

New 29 May 2018 Asked by guyfrost 52 Comments

Why not switch to gender neutral names like Jamie and Teddy (and Spike) ?

Because the names have two decades of use. I think we’ve passed the window where we can just change the names. If I had to do it over, yes, I would have used non-gendered names.

UN-Set Colors

New 20 Mar 2017 Asked by cpudraner 39 Comments

With the 5/5 Pink Teddy Bear token in Unglued, will the supposed new UN-set include pink as a mana color?

The Un-sets have introduced colors other than just pink. Hazel’s my favorite.

Un-set Reprints

New 10 Mar 2017 Asked by piogre 15 Comments

You've said that a third Un-set would be unlikely to include reprints, and I understand your reasoning for that. However, would it be possible for the set to include the tokens made by previously printed silver-bordered cards (4/4 red Giant Chicken, 5/5 pink Giant Teddy Bear, etc) since those cards are unlikely to ever be reprinted (and thus the tokens for them would otherwise be equally unlikely to ever see print)?

Reprinted bring black border cards is hard to do in an Un-set. Tokens don’t require a black border.

Doubling Tokens Effect

New 24 Nov 2016 Asked by piogre 18 Comments

"They don’t. The token is just a marker so getting extra tokens doesn’t do anything." - It makes sense that it wouldn't double the pop! counters since they don't seem to go on a permanent, but wouldn't it double the number of pink teddy bear tokens a player gets?

Doubling Season would double the creature tokens created.

Un-Rules Color Mana

New 15 Apr 2016 Asked by barracius 83 Comments

Un-Rules question: If I control the Giant Teddy Bear from Water Gun Balloon Game and a brown Avatar of Me (my eyes are brown) and then I tap Bloom Tender (from Eventide), will Bloom Tender provide me with pink and brown mana?

Yes it will. Use it wisely.

Unhinged Pink Appearance

New 06 Sep 2014 Asked by war--its-only-skin-deep 22 Comments

Pink also shows up in Unhinged in Water Gun Balloon Game; it gives someone a pink 5/5 giant teddy bear token! :)

Ooh, I forgot about that. Go pink!

Un-rules Creature Types

New 20 Dec 2013 Asked by latentlactose 6 Comments

Un-rules, related to Water Gun Balloon Game: is "Giant Teddy Bear" one singular creature type, or is the token a "Giant", "Teddy", and a "Bear"?

It’s three different creature types. If it were one it would be hyphenated.
