So losing all abilities and becoming 8/8s is a green humility?

Maybe. : )

Possibility of Green Humility Effect

Can green get a humility that makes all creatures big instead of 1/1?

Probably.

Green can get a humility effect? Could it get colorshifted humility?

Green tends to make things bigger, not smaller.

Nick Archetype Discussion

New 10 May 2023 Asked by gladidiedpoppunk 104 Comments

I think WOTC needs to acknowledge another Player Archtype, other than Johnny, Timmy, and Spike.
This player's name is Nick.
Nick is a contrarian. Who only likes things other players dislike.
Classic Nick cards:ShahrazadHumilityArmageddon Stasis
Nick loves banding, and flanking, and regenerates.
I think R&D needs to make more Nick cards

Nick is just a subset of Timmy and Tammy. R&D refers to that subtype as a Griefer.

Humility Card Speculation

Assuming it had never been printed - do you think that Humility made now would have been an Acorn card?

I believe Humility works in the rules, it just can get very complicated.

Humility and Titania's Song Cycle

New 28 Apr 2022 Asked by estebatto 22 Comments

There's humility in white making all creatures lose all abilities, and titania's song in green making non creature artifacts lose all abilities. Was this intended to be a cycle at some point ( each color making some permanent type lose abilities) ?

It was not an intended cycle.

Kappa Cannoner Balance

New 06 Mar 2022 Asked by kagaya-homoraisan 42 Comments

another angle to consider for people wondering about kappa cannoneer: rn its balanced around the idea that its not ever being blocked (barring some humility shenanigans) which is a consistent target to hit. but if instead it were balanced around "its being blocked some unknown proportion of the time because it says "cant be blocked except by x", now r&d is in a lose-lose situation. either assume cannoneer is being blocked a lot and buff it, which creates the landwalk situation again. or instead, assume cannoneer basically reads "cant be blocked" and make a wordier, more confusing card for very marginal benefit. if cannoneer said "cant be blocked except by cats" (2 of which are in neo) its not actually a more interactive card. its just unblockable with extra words and extra mental load for no reason.

Good points.

Color Change of Humility Effects

New 02 Mar 2022 Asked by ashaya 35 Comments

When did humility effects move out of white? We had a variant in Overwhelming Splendor as recently as Hour of Devastation so I'm a little surprised the effect is out of color now.

Overwriting the abilities and stats of other creatures is primary blue as blue is the main shape changing color. We did move “destroy target creature and its controller gets a token” out of that flavor space and thus out of blue (now just in white). So white can destroy your creature and give you a 1/1, but blue overwrites the creature making it a vanilla 1/1.

Changing Colors of MH2 Card

New 01 Mar 2022 Asked by gatvin 21 Comments

Looking at Dress Down from MH2. Not really of the opinion that white is in dire need of buffs, but why was the updated Humility printed in Blue?

Because that effect is blue now and not white.

Shift of Humility Effects

New 06 Dec 2021 Asked by papillon94 45 Comments

With Blue's transformation being planted firmly Auras and temporary effects overwriting creatures stats and abilities, are Humility effects no longer in White's slice of the color pie? Not that it was used with any great regularity, but I do have a fondness for the likes of Darksteel Mutation and Minimus Containment.

Humility is now mostly blue.

Silver Bordered Cards Concerns

New 10 Jul 2021 Asked by honor-basquiat 76 Comments

"It’s all a matter of perspective. Commander has rules that don’t exist in most formats." I think this isn't a fair comparison. If you try to play Frankie Peanuts as your Commander in a game of Magic, you'd see very quickly why a lot of players don't like it when cards don't have clear and official rules. When you play those cards with black bordered cards in constructed Magic it creates uncertainty and confusion. PLEASE don't put silver bordered cards in black bordered products.

Frankie Peanuts has caused less rules confusion than Chains of Mephistopheles or Humility. The idea that black border Magic is different because its cards never cause gameplay confusion is simply untrue.

Job Humility Misstep

New 12 Jul 2016 Asked by howdidigethereimnotgoodwithmagic 56 Comments

If you're "halfway decent" at your job (in your own words) does that mean you think there are people who could do this job better than you could? If someone came along that you thought could do a better job (i.e. make Magic more successful while staying true to its 'roots') would you advocate for them replacing you?

That attempt at humility went awry. : )
