If or When - 8ed frame return in any form?

I started right before the switch to m15 frame and have been pretty bummed out seeing retro frame every couple sets, would love to see some strong cards and staples from after the switch like arcane signet, sheoldred, fatal push, etc in that frame. I'd definitely purchase any secret lair with any cards no matter how weak if they were in 8ed frame, though I'm probably in the minority there.

I’m not sure how many retro frames we can support.

As someone who plays mostly CEDH there are a few staples that are not reserve list that tend to just be generally hard to find even though they are not expensive, while secret lairs have introduced new arts and inventory for some of these cards certain cards like demonic consultation, tarnished citadel, and orcish lumberjack are still hard to comeby in good condition. i know you guys can't reprint everything all the time but maybe expressing CEDH meta cards in reprint sets helps people enter into this growing sub-sect of a fun and exciting format; Cheers and Looking forward to MTGxMarvel and FF

Re: “it was all a dream” setWhile not literally a “dream”, “what if (thing that didn’t happen)” has been a theme we’ve seen before. We got a secret lair with planeswalkers stylized around themes magic hasn’t had (or at least, hadn’t yet had at the time), we got several “what if they were compleated” alternate art cards in All will be One, and in Bloomburrow we’re getting a bonus sheet of “what if they were on Bloomburrow”. I understand these aren’t literal in universe dreams, but they are cards that take place in a vague “other” make believe land

“What if” is also on the short list, but is different than a “in a dream” set.

Hey, can you pass the feedback to the right team that the current secret lair system sucks? Like I love magic. I love this game dearly and I enjoy the concept of secret lairs giving me great art and cards I previously couldn't access being accessible in some way.This concept of limited scarcity feels disheartening and makes it so nearly inaccessible when I don't immediately remember when a secret lair happens and I shouldn't have to plan my day to buy something lest it sells out in under an hour or close to it. I was excited to get a Miku bundle but it was sold out by the time I was going to and the limiting the bundles to only a select number just creates FOMO and scalpers will take advantage of the system regardless of limits

Any news on reprints of secret lair exclusives? After the initial few SLX runs, exclusives without non-lair reprints have started to pile up again (Honor Among Thieves, Doctor Who, Lara Croft, Arden Angel). Did the switch from Set Boosters to Play Boosters affect getting these out in the wild at all, and if so, is there a new solution in place yet?

Hey Mark! Someone online said something that concerned me. They said you had made a statement that there will be no more “Universes Within”. I read the post they referenced, and it seemed to me you had only been talking about Within as an exclusive product, but that occasional inclusions like the Street Fighter within cards will still happen for mechanically unique Lairs. I could but wrong, but some folks online believe the former and I was hoping for clarity.

The unique Universes Beyond Secret Lair content will eventually get a “Universes Within” treatment. I was talking about how all Universes Beyond cards in non-Secret Lair products won’t get “Universes Within” counterparts, although we reserve the ability to make any ones we deem necessary.

Do you know what the lead time on Secret Lairs is? Do they follow the two-year schedule of other sets or is it a shorter turnaround from conception to release?

It’s a much shorter turn around.

I just got my Miku secret lair and generally I'm very happy with it; it looks gorgeous. However, I must comment frustration that there's two separate bonus cards, with a difference of rarity it seems, no less. It sucks that 'oh actually there's another Miku card you don't get without going to the secondary market which will absolutely ratchet up the price." This feels different to the more generic bonus cards like the slivers which weren't attached to any one secret lair

Two questions: (for everyone to answer) 1) Do you prefer the bonus to be connected to the Secret Lair theme or separate? 2) Do you like the ability to occasionally get rarer bonus cards, or would you prefer all of them get the same thing?
