Squandered Resources

Green's Compatibility with Black

New 22 Apr 2024 Asked by shiggymegamitiggy 44 Comments

Council of colors question. Black/Green cards sometimes show a subversion of nature. For example, Dark Heart of the Woods and Squandered Resources both deal with the abuse of natural resources, and Grim Feast seems to imply cannibalism. Philosophically, why is Green OK with partnering with Black to produce such effects?

It’s less that green chooses to partner with black, and more that that philosophy requires a combination of black and green philosophies.

Strength of Orcish Lumberjack

It's even older than squandered resources, but Orcish Lumberjack is in red, and probably even reprintable in the modern color pie.... (maybe not for power reasons, though)

It is a wee bit strong. : )

Color Selection for Sacrificing Land

New 23 Feb 2020 Asked by golgariswag 52 Comments

You answered that red is the color for sacrificing land for mana, but we have Squandered Resource in golgari and Rain of Filth in black while we have no red cards with this effect.

Squandered Resources? : )1996 is not the best representative of the modern color pie. This is obviously not an effect we do often, but if we printed a new one, it would be red.
