Non-artifact Gnomes

Mark, regarding non-artifact gnomes, we had some of them in Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, and Battle for Baldur's Gate, so there are 10 in Magic in addition to Quarum Trench Gnomes

True. I was talking in-Magic universe.

Creatures in Conventional Expansions

New 14 Jul 2021 Asked by snescontroller 36 Comments

Can I get an In/When on the following creatures from AFR showing up in a conventional Magic expansion: gnolls, humanoid dragons (with the dragon subtype), gnomes (non-artifact), halflings.

The D&D specific things aren’t going to show up in non-D&D Magic sets. Things like Bard and Ranger should show up though. Non-artifact Gnomes already exist - Quarum Trench Gnomes from Legends, but I could see a new world with them.

Squirrels and Gnomes

New 03 Jul 2019 Asked by bradrose 30 Comments

Hi, Mark! It was my birthday on June 30th. I love both Squirrels and nonartifact Gnomes (i.e. the only one to exist, Quarum Trench Gnomes). May I have trivia that is true for both Squirrels and flesh Gnomes? ...Besides the fact that Q was the last letter to have a card's name start with it. ;) Alternate request: which of the two tribes (Squirrel vs. nonartifact Gnome) is more likely to have new cards printed in a Standard-legal Magic set?

The first set to have Squirrels appear in the art was Urza’s Legacy. It was also the first set I did card concepting for. Happy Birthday!

Alphabetical Card Naming

RE: Quarum Trench Gnomes trivia. They completed the cycle of cards starting with all letters of the alphabet.

Correct! Quarum Trench Gnomes was the first Magic card to ever start with a Q and it was the last letter to appear as the start of a card name. Xenic Poltergeist had gotten X in the previous set.

Re: nonartifact Gnomes, let's not forget about Quarum Trench Gnomes! Sure, they're about 22 years old, but they still exist!

Fair enough. Quick Quarum Trench Gnome trivia. With the release of that card, something was complete. What was it?

Snow Lands Expectation

New 12 Jun 2015 Asked by cobrakmmndr 56 Comments

Maro I keep expecting snow lands to come back in every set is R&D going to meet this expectation?

The last letter to have a card name starting with it was Q. It happened with the Legends card Quarum Trench Gnomes. Happy Birthday!

Alphabetical Card Quiz

New 21 Feb 2014 Asked by entiel 14 Comments

"What card was the last to be printed such that a Magic card existed with an English name that started with each letter of the alphabet?" Not sure if I understood the question right, but was it "Quagmire" from Legends?

The correct answer was either Quagmire or Quarum Trench Gnomes, both from Legends. Q was the last letter. X had been done in Antiquities with Xenic Poltergeist.
