Form of the Squirrel

Expectations for 'Form of the...' Cards

New 09 Apr 2022 Asked by joseph-greenwood 36 Comments

Can I request more "Form of the..." cards? Ever since I discovered Form of the Dragon and Form of the Squirrel fifteen years ago, they've been one of my favorite concepts in Magic, and I was ecstatic when we got Form of the Dinosaur.

I hope we do more. I’m a fan.

Hexproof and Shroud FYI

New 12 Nov 2018 Asked by siamkor 32 Comments

FYI: White has 5 cards that give you hexproof (Aegis of the Gods, Imperial Mask, Leyline of Sanctity, Spirit of the Hearth and Shalai) and 3 that give you shroud (Ivory Mask, Solitary Confinement and True Believer). 2 artifacts for hexproof (Witchbane Orb and Orbs of Warding) and one green card for shroud (Form of the Squirrel) close the lot.

Form of Cards Colors

New 02 Jan 2018 Asked by jhoald 46 Comments

Is "Form of the X" strictly a red ability, or can I have things like Form of the Kraken in blue or Form of the Hydra in green, etc?

Unhinged had Form of the Squirrel in green. Form of cards are not restricted to any one particular color.

Transformative Card Possibility

New 07 Nov 2017 Asked by joseph-greenwood 33 Comments

My birthday was last week, but apparently my question drowned in your popularity. So... will we ever see another card in the spirit of Form of the Dragon or Form of the Squirrel, that allows a planeswalker to "transform" into some thematically appropriate creature?

Both were complex, but I could see us visiting it again some day.

Squirrel Token Clarified

New 25 Apr 2017 Asked by manacharged 24 Comments

Clarification on the Form of the Squirrel question: if the enchantment leaves play and *then* the token dies, do you lose? The card text makes it unclear whether the "you lose if it leaves the battlefield" ability is on the enchantment or on the token.

It’s on the token.

Form of Squirrel Rules

New 24 Apr 2017 Asked by meradric 18 Comments

Un Rules Question. Is the "You lose the game when it leaves play" clause of Form of the Squirrel something inherent to the token, or an effect of the enchantment? If The enchantment is destroyed are you still that squirrel and lose if it leaves play?

The “lose the game” ability is part of the creature token. If the only Form of the Squirrel enchantment gets Naturalized, but the token is still on the battlefield, you do not lose the game.

Squirrels in Un-Sets

New 23 May 2015 Asked by ilgreven 14 Comments

There is precedent for Squirrels in Un-Sets: Squirrel Farm and Form of the Squirrel.

Un-sets can clearly have Squirrels. I’ve tried for years and years to get Squirrels back into normal expansions with no luck.

Form of the Squirrel

New 18 Aug 2014 Asked by pepinismo 19 Comments

Did you ever think of doing Form of the Ass for Unhinged?

Form of the _________ is funnier if you are already familiar with the thing you’re becoming. It was always Form of the Squirrel.

Becoming a Creature

It's 2014. Why can't I turn into a creature like Gideon yet?

You kind of can with Form of the Dragon and Form of the Squirrel.

Squirrel vs Scepter

New 08 Aug 2013 Asked by rebmcr 5 Comments

Form of the Squirrel will not stop you activating Isochron Scepter & Elite Arcanist, but it will stop you casting the copies.

This is correct. I misunderstood the point of the original question.

Squirrel Play Mechanics

New 08 Aug 2013 Asked by theworlddoesnotspeak 12 Comments

Un-rules-ish question: Does Form of the Squirrel prevent me from using Isochron Sceptre and/or Elite Arcanist? If so, I shall be very sad.

Form of the Squirrel does not prevent you from activating permanents. You just have to use your little squirrel paws.

Form of the Dragon Cycle

New 12 Jun 2013 Asked by beowulfslair 11 Comments

What are the chances of us seeing the formation of a cycle of cards to go with Form of the Dragon? I'm a huge fan of the card, since it is powerful and also flavorful. Getting to see a series of enchantments like that in the other 4 colors would be really exciting.

Green got one in Unhinged - Form of the Squirrel. We have no current plans for a Form of ______ cycle.

Squirrel Card Impact

New 24 Nov 2012 Asked by baeda735 7 Comments

Do you think that making a silly card like "Form of the Squirrel" in an Un-set helped to doom squirrels in the eyes of creative?

I don’t think Form of the Squirrel had anything to do with creative’s dislike of squirrels. Deranged Hermit, on the other hand…

Form of the Squirrel

New 25 Oct 2012 Asked by kallixti 5 Comments

What is your opinion on Form of the Squirrel? Do you like it because of squirrels, or dislike it because green isn't supposed to change things into other things?

Changing a player is very different than changing a creature flavorwise. Note that I don’t complain about Form of the Dragon because red doesn’t polymorph.

Form of Dragon Cycle

New 20 Jun 2012 Asked by serenades666-blog 11 Comments

Do you think there could be a cycle of "Form of Dragon?" I think that would be cool for all the colors.. like form of mage for blue etc. It looks and sounds pleasing :D

Unhinged had Form of the Squirrel.

Squirrel Chaos

New 06 Apr 2012 Asked by wobbles 5 Comments

Hypothetically, if I were playing a game of Silver-Bordered Magic, and I had access to a live squirrel, and I put that squirrel onto the table after playing Form of the Squirrel, but then the Squirrel ran out of the room amid the resulting pandemonium. Do I lose the game? I image as silver bordered rules manager you get asked that a lot.

As much as it saddens me, I cannot officially condone the bringing of a live squirrel to a Magic event (They’re basically rats with better PR if you’re unaware.)
