Augment Cards Reanimation

New 15 Nov 2022 Asked by abzanhero 22 Comments

Hey mark! Hope you're well. A friend of mine is building a Surgeon --General-- Commander commander deck, and is wondering what happens if you reanimate a card with Augment, with Living Death or some other effect. Does it enter and then vanish because it's not on a host?

Yes, it acts a lot like an aura.

Living Death Card Trivia

I am in the unfortunate situation that I only have a right to birthday trivia every four years, but I‘ll definitely invoke it today: Do you have any trivia on my favorite card: Living Death?

Living Death was designed by Mike Elliott. Tempest was his first design team, so had a bunch of designs he’d done that he submitted. I believe it was a brain to print design, meaning it never changed. Living Death is one of my favorite designs that I didn’t create.Happy Leap Day Birthday!

White Enchantment Exchange

New 15 Feb 2020 Asked by suigenyukiouji 60 Comments

Can White get a card that essentially exchanges all enchantments in each player's graveyard with ones they control, like how Black does with creatures with Living Death and Red does with artifacts with Scrap Mastery?

I believe white could do that.

Hey Mark - Birthday is today and was hoping for a little trivia on one of my favorite Magic cards: Living End. Thanks for all you do for this community!

Living End was part of a rare cycle of iconic spells from Magic’s past that could only be cast if suspended. Living End was referencing Living Death from Tempest (the card was designed by Mike Elliott).Happy Birthday!

Living Death's Standard Fit

New 24 Jul 2015 Asked by arithallan-deactivated20230503 24 Comments

I realise you're not a developer, but do you believe a card like Living Death too good for Standard at the moment? Or is that flavor out of Black's pie now?

It’s in color pie. It’s just too strong for Standard. Not a developer, yada, yada. : )

Did you make Traumatize able to target yourself on purpose? If so thank you for all the fun living death and rise of the dark realms shenanigans

I’m a big fan of “target player”.

Living Cards Functionality

New 28 Jul 2014 Asked by koscookemonstr 22 Comments

While reading the spoilers for FTV annihilation, I finally took the time to read Living Death, why was Living Death and Living End printed to do the same thing with different ways to cast them?

Living End was a suspend version of Living Death.

Reserved List Comparison

New 02 Nov 2013 Asked by themastah 5 Comments

So wait, RE: reserved list, how is Living End not too close to All Hallow's Eve?

Living End is Living Death (from Tempest) with suspend. The difference is All Hallow’s Eve doesn’t kill the creatures in play.

Blue’s Flavor Limits

New 22 Aug 2012 Asked by altimis 5 Comments

I wonder... Is a the text for Living Death possible on a blue card? The flavor would be what you thought happened didn't actually happen, something else did; or is that too much of a flavor stretch. Mental manipulation all the way!

altimis, Rationalization. Rationalization, altimis.  In other words, uh… no.
