Green Zombie Rarity

Green only has one zombie, Ghoultree from Dark Ascension, is that because green is closely connected to nature and creatures being alive?

Yes.

FYI: Ghoultree from Dark Ascension is a Green Zombie. Also Slitherhead is a zombie that can be cast with only green mana, as it costs hybrid black/green

Just so you know, monogreen has a zombie. Ghoultree.

Zombie plants seem to be the way to get a Zombie in Green.

Ghoultree Rulings Query

New 12 May 2014 Asked by piccadilly-blue 39 Comments

I know this isn't exactly critical, but it bugs me. Can you forward this to the correct people? The rulings on "Ghoultree" from Dark Ascension are dated a year before the set came out and it's driving me mad.

One of the side effects of time travel use. Um, I mean, um, I’ll look into it.

Green's Graveyard Mechanics

New 20 Oct 2013 Asked by pirobdm 11 Comments

It seems to me that graveyard-related effects are becoming relevant on green cards...What is the reason for that? I'm talking about cards like Nemesis of Mortals, Boneyard Wurm, Ghoultree, Splinterfright, Kessig Cagebreakers, etc. etc., I always considered graveyard effects to be part of black's color pie

Green has always cared about the graveyard. Lhurhoyf, for example, was back in Ice Age.

Fun With Card Names

Thraghusk (corn tokens!), Shuck (a red fling spell), Uktabi Banana, Grapes of Rath, Tiny Ghoultree (think broccoli for youngsters), Parmogoyf (lay on the cheese), Caesar Thallid, Beetdown, Turnip Bout, etc etc the list goes on :D

I’m probably having as little too much fun with this. : )

Ghoultree Color Choice

Try # 3 for this one. Why is Ghoultree mono green?

Sometimes I don’t answer a question because I don’t have a good answer.

Graveyard Interaction

New 06 Apr 2012 Asked by thelordofhats 2 Comments

I've heard people say that after Black, Green is actually the secondary color for graveyard interaction. Is this true, and if so, do you usually use it in the Vengevine "care about specific cards in graveyard" sense, or the Splinterfright or Ghoultree "It's the quantity that matters" sense?

Black is clearly number one when it comes to graveyard interaction. Green is number two with white a close third.  Green’s graveyard interaction comes from its cycle of life feel where it gets life from death (aka returning cards from the graveyard to the hand). Green does a little of creatures in graveyard coming back into play but if that’s the part you’re studying the color pie for, white is ahead of it.

Card Rarity Justification

How could cards like Ghoultree or Jar of Eyeballs even be considered rares? If Ghoultree had trample, sure, that's a rare then. Jar of Eyeballs seems like a slower Shrine of Piercing Vision at best.... I don't see how this card could be a rare whilst Shrine of Piercing Vision is an uncommon.

Everyone seems to miss that unlike Shrine of Piercing Vision, that you do not sacrifice Jar of Eyeballs to use it. It’s repeatable.
