Planar Chaos Possibility

Along similar lines, do you see a possibility for more Planar Chaos fun in Magic's future? Seeing colors do things they don't usually do is always entertaining. I'm especially enjoying looking at older sets and seeing how the color pie "used" to work, before the rules were more formalized and documented (cards like Lifeforce, Tsunami, and Deathgrip being some more extreme examples).

We don’t want to make a set where colors are breaking color pie, or even bending it too much in aggregate. That said, there is potential for a set where we shift things into colors that can do things, but haven’t had as much chance to do them.

Dual Land Types

I missed my birthday question, but I guess better later than never. Do you think more dual land cycles should have basic land types? And what is the deciding factor in giving land cycle land types? As it's both a positive(can be fetched) and a negative(Acid Rain, Flash Fires, Boil, Tsunami) in eternal formats.

I think it is something we should do sparingly. It’s way more a positive than a negative.Happy Birthday!

Green's Iconic Mirrored Pairs

New 18 Mar 2021 Asked by jimharbor 39 Comments

Red and Blue had the blasts and Black and White had the knights. Iconic mirrored pairs that have been referenced several times. But why didnt green get a card like this?

It did. Lifeforce and Tsunami. The first mirrored with Deathgrip..The second was paired with Lifetap (a very loose mechanical pairing admittedly).

Green Color Pie Examination

New 27 Dec 2020 Asked by tbjanowski 37 Comments

Is Tsunami still in Greens color pie? I realize power level is too high for Standard and the move from mass land destruction also pushes it further away. But just from a color pie perspective. The same question with Ice Storm, Thermokarst, Fallow Earth, Kudzu and the destroy non creature permanent cards?

No, green can’t do damage to players. It still can damage fliers though. EDIT: Oops, I was thinking of Hurricane. Green can still destroy lands, so destroying islands is in color pie. Being in color pie, doesn’t mean we’ll print it though.
