Modal Double-Faced Card Functionality

New 05 Sep 2020 Asked by lhurgyof-blog 24 Comments

Just want to say I really like the MDFC! Reminds me of the old WoW tcg where you could turn and card over to use as a resource to generate Mana. How do these cards work with tutor effects like sylvan scrying?

All DFCs (MDFCs & TDFCs) are their front side in every zone other than the stack and the battlefield.

Colorless Land Fetching

New 03 Feb 2018 Asked by r0369 38 Comments

Hi Mark! I don't understand why Expedition Map is OK as colorless. Why should any color be able to access (I thought) a fundamentally green effect for only 1 more mana than Sylvan Scrying? Is the additional 1 mana much more meaningful than it seems to me?

While green is the best and land fetching, we’ve always let colorless (usually in the form of artifacts) have access to it at a slightly weaker rate.

Completing Tutor Cycle

New 29 Apr 2016 Asked by ccantman 20 Comments

We have Fabricate (artifact), Idyllic Tutor (enchantment), Call the Gatewatch (planeswalker), Sylvan Scrying(land). Will the cycle ever be completed? Sorcery, Instant and Creature versions?

I don’t see it as a cycle, but I’m sure we’ll get to them all eventually.

Red Tutoring Insight

Even though you meant Mirage, you were still correct with your mentioning an incomplete tutor cycle in Mirrodin: Sylvan Scrying, Steelshaper's Gift, Fabricate, and Grim Reminder. You're right even when you don't realize it :)

Interesting. Red really isn’t much of a tutoring color. You know, planning ahead isn’t Red’s thing.

Tutoring at Common

New 05 Oct 2015 Asked by the-batlord 28 Comments

"We don't tend to do tutoring at common these days" Would Rampant Growth and similar cards be the exception? Both Natural Connection and Sylvan Scrying were in Battle For Zendikar?

Basic land tutoring is the one exception. Fair point.
