Ajani Vengeant

Ajani's Color Identity

New 08 May 2017 Asked by aork14 45 Comments

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but is Ajani still Naya colored? The last and only time we've seen him red was as Ajani Vengeant in Alara. Did he lose access to red mana? Will we ever see him become red again in the future?

He’s currently green/white.

Multicolor Oaths Concern

New 22 Jan 2017 Asked by corvus-abyssus 35 Comments

Re: multicolor oaths - If a planeswalker is known to have a core color identity, but gets a temporary change (like Ajani Vengeant), would their oath reflect their core colors or their current colors?

The Oath represents them when taking the oath.

Nahiri's Nature

New 02 Apr 2016 Asked by wolfrun89 31 Comments

Re: Mixing up Nahiri & Avacyn: So back to the original question, what about Nahiri is still white? Ajani Vengeant went on a similar rampage, but he seemed more in control.

Let’s talk about Nahiri after we know more about her role in the story.

Red Vowel Analysis

New 23 Aug 2015 Asked by poopoointhepotty 252 Comments

Can you confirm that the letter 'a' is the most red vowel? Chandra Nalaar, Jaya Ballard, Ral Zarek, Dack Fayden, Ajani Vengeant... Red planeswalkers are practically dripping with a's!

Red A’s do have a literary background. That’s right, English literature jokes. How many blogs offer that? : )

Nissa Character Evolution

New 22 Feb 2015 Asked by lazcarno 42 Comments

You've said that the backlash against "Liliana of the Dark Realms" cemented the notion that each planeswalker character is supposed to have their "thing" and stick to it (presumably still with character-related exceptions to the rule like with Ajani Vengeant). What, then, was the reasoning for letting Nissa change from being elf-based to being land-based? How was the card "Nissa, Worldwaker" received?

Because the Elf theme ended up being a little too restrictive so we shifted to more of a nature/land-based theme. Nissa’s last card was very well received.

Ajani Naming Convention

New 21 Jul 2014 Asked by calintares 16 Comments

should there be a comma in "Ajani Steadfast"? it's a title, not a part of his name, right?

It’s much like Ajani Vengeant. Editing tells me that there is some wiggle room with the comma.

Sarkhan's Timeline

New 19 May 2014 Asked by marshallunfocused 52 Comments

By the art, it seems like Sarkhan is not quite as insane as we last saw him. Does this mean that this set occurs before the events of Zendikar? Is this essentially a prequel Sarkhan like Ajani Vengeant was a prequel Ajani?

Khan of Tarkir takes place after the previous times we’ve seen Sarkhan.

White's Red Attraction

New 03 Apr 2014 Asked by tonyredgravedmc 29 Comments

Do you think there's a philosophical reason White characters are attracted to one of its enemy colors, Red? My basis is Ajani Vengeant and Gideon's magnetism to Chandra and Aurelia.

Um, opposites attract?

Future Funko Figures

New 21 Feb 2014 Asked by jtfr96 12 Comments

About Funko's Legacy Collection action figures, will we get future waves of the Lorwyn 5 in their other outfits? Like Ajani Vengeant, or Liliana of the Veil?

If the first ones are successful, that will increase the chances that there are more.

Doubling Season Interactions

New 27 Dec 2013 Asked by doortonothingness 13 Comments

For the record: Ajani Vengeant; Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver; Domri Rade; Gideon, Champion of Justice; Jace Beleren; Jace, the Mind Sculptor; Karn Liberated; Nissa Revane; Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded & Venser, the Sojourner can't ultimate immediately with Doubling Season out. Unless you have more than one :)

FYI.

Planeswalkers Reprints Possibility

New 23 Apr 2013 Asked by weetlesbian 5 Comments

New versions of planeswalkers get released every so often, but are we ever likely to see older versions reprinted? I'd love to be able to play with Ajani Vengeant or Baby Jace in Standard, since I wasn't around when they were in print.

I’m sure there will come a day where we reprint an already existing version of a planeswalker (well, other than the core set because we do it there all the time).

Planeswalkers Color Identity

New 12 Feb 2013 Asked by avatarjk137 7 Comments

Do you think the original 5 planeswalkers should stick to your colors, or do you approve of cards that show them branching out (like Ajani Vengeant or arguably Garruk the Veil-Cursed)?

I’m okay with change. Obviously, I work on Magic. : )

Ajani Vengeant's Revenge

New 11 Dec 2012 Asked by mtgreview-deactivated20130531 8 Comments

I was thinking about Ajani Vengeant and how his drive for revenge pushed him into being dual colored (at least I hope that's what happened.) I was wondering, though, revenge feels more like a Black-centered emotion. Am I wrong here, or...?

It depends on whether the cause behind the revenge is selfish or not.

Planeswalker Color Repetition

New 22 Nov 2012 Asked by chantryg 10 Comments

How would you feel about a color combination getting a new planeswalker that had already had one. For instance, we had Ajani Vengeant in RW a while back, if there was a new RW 'walker with so many two color combinations still untouched, would that be a good thing, bad thing, or not matter. Seems like it'd upset players who hadn't gotten say a GU planeswalker, if they didn't like RW. Thoughts?

Planeswalkers and their colors are driven by creative needs more than mechanical ones. There is a loose “let’s try to eventually hit all the two-color combinations” goal but it is less important than making each planeswalker as flavorful as it can be. For the hole-filling purists, we’ll get there eventually, I promise.

Avacyn Restored Teaser

New 22 Mar 2012 Asked by mcsleuthburger 9 Comments

You said that there will be between one and three planeswalkers in Avacyn Restored! I cannot wait to find out who it/they is/are!!! Absolutely my favorite card type is the planeswalker, they add so much depth and creativity to the game that I just can't stand it…so far I own 5 planeswalkers, Bolas (that's just mean), Ajani Vengeant (the great irritator of opponents), Elspeth Tirel (nuff said), Garruk Primal Hunter (come at me bro), and Sorin Markov (MIND BLOWN!). Will it be a character we know?

The planeswalker(s) in Avacyn Restored is/are not previously known.
