A Real Handful

Feedback on Unfinity Launch

New 10 Oct 2022 Asked by thatguyovertherewiththething 75 Comments

I judged my Unfinity launch this weekend. Wanted to send some feedback here:- Players seemed really frustrated that stickers were pretty one use. Stickers never went back properly on the sheet after use. - General Positive reaction to Attractions. Players did seem frustrated with the dexterity ones, mainly due to difficulty. Lots of talk about using them in Commander.- Humor of the set landed okay but when it landed, it landed very well. Lots of love from the enfranchised players on the in-jokes and references.- "What constitutes a hat?" Is now a philosophical question. Highly recommend some reminder text when "hats matters" returns as a theme.- Some complicated black border rules questions actually came up more often than normal. One that stuck out was the interaction between Monitor Monitor, Drop Tower, and how the rules see dice results.- Embiggen, Animate Object, and A Real Handful were definite bombs that took over games. Six-Sided Die as well but I think that breaks even due to the variance. All in all, everyone left happy over 3 events in 2 days (minus one vocal player who was upset with stickers.) I personally loved the set and plan on building around some cards in commander. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfinity Draft Experience

hey mark, just got out of an unfinity draft and I was excited going in, it was even better than expected. I like to think I have a good performance voice and Carnival Barker got A Real Handful to become, in all, a hasty 17/3 with all those other words and rarely in stories is "and then everybody clapped" truthful. But wow, a real the Gathering is the magic part so thanks for the set

A Real Handful Rule

What if you hold your hand of cards so it's touching A Real Handful?

No, it has to be an actual human hand. And yes, living and attached to a human.

For “A Real Handful” can someone outside the game provide the 3rd hand? If not, how do you get the lifelink on the little guy? Just 2HG?

You need another person. That’s the whole idea of the card.

Unfinity Preparation

FYI the Spikes are bringing to Unfinity: a tophat, glasses, WUBRG top, pen & paper, lotsa fuzzy dice, tape measure, timer, granola bars, English dictionary, smartphone, Antiquities/Eldraine booster packs, a like-minded buddy, prosthetic 3rd arm with flipping skills, inconspicuous clown robot tokens, jokebook, box of tchotchkes, copious MTG merch, #GuessThatMagicCard sent to mom, 10 Ninja's Kunai cards, Scavenger Hunt basic lands, 5 cards stolen from Johnny (by same artist), and an Ikea showcase.

Nice list. Some notes:• The dice have to be real dice, both for rolling and stacking.• The smartphone will have a timer. • The prosthetic arm won’t work for A Real Handful. • The Clown Robot tokens have to be the official ones. • The person guessing #GuessThatMagicCard can’t be coached. : )

Real Handful Gameplay

Why wouldn't a hand be able to be on more than one A Real Handful at once? Turning it into a game of Twister sounds much more fun than only play one copy at a time. It's not like a 3/3 for 4 with menace is even a great card to begin with, but it would be funny.

You can have multiples on the battlefield at once. You just need some help from other people.

Real Handful Strategy

For "a real handful," do the changing of the number of hands on the card interact with the stack? If I don't have a hand on it, and my opponent casts shock targeting it, can I put my hand on it in response?

You can.

Hand Interpretations

For a Real Handful, do hands from things like action figures count?

No, you need actual, living hands.

Finger Rules

New 21 Sep 2022 Asked by mrmoustachemm 22 Comments

For "A Real Handful", are fingers "hands" (or part of a hand, enough to count if I touch my index finger to the card)?

Touching with your fingers is fine, but the counts as that hand being used (you can’t use other fingers to touch another copy).
