Outcome of Split Screen

Un-ruling please! What happens when you split screen an animated library?

Animate Library is an aura, so you would divide your library into four libraries and then animate one of them. Not a great combo.

Silver border question: If I have a Split Screen in play and an effect tells me to draw more than one card (eg Divination), can I choose a different library for each draw?

If it’s one effect, you have to choose a single library.

Unstable Draft Query

New 28 Apr 2018 Asked by brij4074-blog 21 Comments

Hi Mark, I finally got the chance to draft unstable in cube form and wanted to say thanks. We had one weird situation we hoped you could rule on what happens if someone targets one of my creatures with timeout while I have a split screen in play?

The owner of Time Out gets to choose the library (pile) to put it in.

Un-rules Scenario

Un-rules question: what happens if you cast 4 copies of More or Less on a copy of Split Screen that’s on the stack, causing the controller of Split Screen into 0 equal piles?

You can’t have less than one library.

Black Border & Multiple Zones

New 04 Mar 2018 Asked by vanasbry 42 Comments

"Do you think a card like Split Screen could be in black border, or is it too silver border?" "The card was originally designed for black border and ended up in silver border because the rules for multiple libraries gets fuzzy fast." Are additional graveyards just as hard to get into black border rules? They're at least compelling from a top-down Vorthos perspective, for representing a special realm of the afterlife like Elysium or Valhalla.

Multiple copies of a zone are not friendly with black border rules. Silver border, on the other hand, says “No problem.”

Split Screen Clarification

New 13 Dec 2017 Asked by dingodollydollhouse-deactivated 23 Comments

Hey there Marko. Unstable is a tremendous set and I'm real big on it at the moment, but I saw you answer a question about Split Screen, saying a player could make a library with zero cards in it if they wanted. The instructions on the card say you "deal it into four libraries," which sounds like you'd go poker style one by one till you've got four. Is that not the case?

No, you can select the size of each library. The cards have to be random and unknown u til you’re done making the libraries. Then and only then are the top cards flipped up.

Animated Library Copies

New 10 Dec 2017 Asked by ilgreven 42 Comments

You now have two libraries. You can chose which library to use with whatever effect affects libraries.

Split Screen Milling Rule

New 10 Dec 2017 Asked by supaquazi 42 Comments

If I have Split Screen and somebody forces me to mill 10 cards can I divide that up between decks, or do I have to mill them all off the same deck?

If anything refers to your library you choose one, so all the milling is from the same library. Note if the library has less than ten cards, you just mill what you can. You lose for being unable to draw not being unable to mill.
