Legendary Token Trivia

New 30 Dec 2018 Asked by setarkos 32 Comments

A little trivia question: Between the eight types white, blue, black, red, green, artifact, multicolor, and colorless but not artifact, there is currently only one type that no Magic card creates a legendary token for. Which type is it? (Clone effects like Rite of Replication do not count.)

Colorless but not an artifact?
By the way, the use of the word “types” is confusing because of card types.

Token Planeswalkers

Token planeswalkers are already a thing. Gideon + Rite of Replication, keep the token for one extra activation.

“Can happen” is very different from we make a card that specifically does it.

Little Girl and Primal Vigor

I like Primal Vigor. But the biggest problem with it is that it doesn't help with scavenging Little Girls.

Fine, just Rite of Replication the Little Girl. : )

Blue's Color Pie

New 25 May 2013 Asked by castawayj 22 Comments

Does Blue keep "destroy target Legendary Creature" in its section of the color pie? Because I now need to replace Clone, Image, Rite of Replication, etc in my EDH deck.

That was never supposed to be in blue’s section of the color pie.

Clone's Artist Quandary

New 28 Jul 2012 Asked by ancient-chaos 2 Comments

My Clone copies a Saproling. Who is the artist? Does it depend on the token I use? What If I don't have a token card? What if I Rite of Replication a Saproling? If I use a second token with different art, does the fact that it's a copy overwrite the fact that the artist is different?

It has no artist in black-colored world. In silver-bordered world it has an artist if you use a token card.

Silver-bordered Rules

A question in your role as silverbordered rules manger: Is rarity a copiable property of cards in the context of Rare-B-Gone? The two cases I see: 1. A Clone (rare) copies an uncommon creature. 2. Rite Of Replication makes a token that's a copy of a rare creature (tokens normally have no rarity). Does Rare-B-Gone hit any of those?

Yes, in silver-bordered world, everything is copied: rarity, premium-ness, artist, collector number, etc. - everything is copied.

Token Copy Error

Regarding token copies of creatures: You made a card that puts FIVE token copies into play - Rite of Replication.

Yes, I said four and should have said five. Thanks to the many people who caught that.
