Stickers in Unfinity

New 09 Aug 2022 Asked by elmarcodepico 35 Comments

Hi Mark! I'm super excited for Unfinity! My one complaint about stickers though is that them being eternal legal seems to indicate we won't be getting any acorn effects on the stickers themselves. I was hoping I could give my Krosan Beast squirrellink! Or are there going to be acorn-only sticker sheets as well?

The stickers all have effects that can be done on an eternal card. I will note that written out squirrellink can be done on an eternal card. (It sadly can’t be called squirrellink - that is be a lifelink variant - and work in the rules.)

Hey Mark (and Sally), what about the Secret Lair version of Krosan Beast ?

Sally?šŸæ - Itā€™s Squirrel-y enough to count.

Identifying Krosan Beast

New 07 Aug 2022 Asked by alex-brault 36 Comments

Do Acornelia and Sally consider Krosan Beast to represent a squirrel in the art?

No. It was a Squirrel that turned into a Beast (which is why it has both creature types), but the art shows it in its Beast state.

Ruling on Original Krosan Beast

New 27 Nov 2020 Asked by thasgar 29 Comments

When you made the un-ruling of the original Krosan Beast not working with Acornelia, did you know the new Secret Lair would have a more squirrely version?

The new art didnā€™t exist yet when I made the original ruling.

Art Preference of Acornelia

New 26 Nov 2020 Asked by demicosm-blog 45 Comments

Hey Mark, I know Acornelia doesn't consider Krosan Beast to be a squirrel in its original art, but is it sufficiently squirrely for her tastes in the new secret lair art?

The Secret Lair Krosan Beast art is definitely Squirrel-y enough for Acornelia.

Krosan Beast Card Ruling

New 12 Oct 2020 Asked by whale-fingers 29 Comments

Hi Mark! Un cards ruling question: given that Krosan Beast is a lycanthrope squirrel, but the art shows its transformed shape, does Acornelia see a squirrel in the card art? Or is it too 'beast'?

The squirrel has to be pictured in the art so Acornelia does not see a squirrel in the art as itā€™s in its beast form.

Squirrel Creature Classification

New 08 Feb 2020 Asked by mrmoustachemm 37 Comments

Krosan Beast's typeline explicitly calls it a Squirrel (Creature - Squrrel Beast). By definition, the creature pictured in its art is a squirrel.

No. Threshold creatures in Odyssey are lycanthropes meaning they change from one thing into another. The creature type line captures the before and after, but the art only shows one, usually after. So, no Krosan Beast in the art is not a squirrel.

Krosan Beast Classification

Does Krosan beast count as a squirrel for Acornelia's purposes?

No. Itā€™s a lychanthrope that changes from a squirrel into a beast and the art is showing after the transformation.

Does Krosan Beast look like a Squirrel?

No. It used to be a Squirrel but it transformed into a Beast.

Counter Mechanics Complexity

New 26 Sep 2019 Asked by remasuri 27 Comments

I still remember spoiler season for Odyssey when we first saw the mechanics Flashback and Threshold spoiled (Krosan Beast and Size the Day). I loved the interaction/tension of the mechanics at least in theory. I think that is also a reason I would like to see a set with +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters - players could feel the tension it can create with both "mechanics" kinda working against each other. Still too complex for normal set?

It adds complexity and confusion for little gameplay gain.

Non-token Squirrels Correction

There are two non-token squirrels: Squirrel Mob and Krosan Beast.

I realized that about half an hour after I wrote that post. Sorry Squirrel Mob. I still love you.
