Can Ixidron Be Monowhite

Could Ixidron be done in monowhite?

No, when white gets variable power/toughness, it’s based on your creatures not all the creatures on the battlefield.

MDFCs and Ixidron Interaction

How do MDFC interact with Ixidron?

Double-faced cards can’t be turned face down, so any effect attempting to do that will fail,

Commander Interaction

New 06 Sep 2015 Asked by forestd3w 14 Comments

Scion answer: He does it as the commander. The commander "properties" is something onto the card itself. Whether or not it's copying something else, or turned down because of Ixidron, it's still the commander. Similarly, a clone copying a commander isn't the commander, so it's not doing commander damage.

Revealed Creature Mechanics

New 06 Sep 2015 Asked by bitsow 12 Comments

YAAV reveals a creature card on the top of your library, but an opponent's Ixidron turns it face-down. Which way should it physically face? If it's face-up, is it still a 2/2 with no abilities, colors, etc.? And if it's face-down, do all players get to look at it since it's "revealed"?

It’s face down (as a colorless 2/2) because of the order of the effects.

04.09.15: Hey Maro! I have Yet Another Aerter Vortex in play, and the top card of my library is a creature card. I play and Ixidron. What happens?

It’s a face down colorless 2/2 on top of your library.

Manifest DFCs Challenge

New 31 Dec 2014 Asked by ashiaka-blog 14 Comments

So Matt has said you can Manifest DFCs... however, DFCs can't be flipped face down by Ixidron, because they're in a state of always being face-up. I find that kinda unintuitive, I can understand it because of how Manifest works, but my this must have been a headache for Matt.

Manifest and double-faced cards were definitely a rules challenge for Matt to solve.

Manifest vs Ixidron

New 30 Dec 2014 Asked by manuel-ch 9 Comments

Diference between manifested card and a creature that was put face-down with Ixidron? I can't put the creature face-up paying its mana cost as if it were manifested, right?

Correct. Only manifested cards have that ability but all face down cards.

Morph Mechanic Limits

New 10 Oct 2014 Asked by choppenstantz 18 Comments

I read your answer to someone else's question about what if everything could be played face-down, and only morph guys could flip. I'd like you to look at Ixidron and Illusionary Mask - I believe the mask does essentially what the questioner asked, but with some added effects of allowing your face-downs to flip if damaged or tapped, and without costing a blanket of 3. It's a nightmare of a card to read, but the idea is there and I feel could be refined into something workable.

The question was could we change morph to do that? The answer was no. Can Magic make a card that can do it is a completely different question.

Creature Facedown Mechanic

Is turning a creature facedown a blue effect (based on Ixidron?) or could other colors conceivably do it?

It’s not inherently just a blue effect.

Double-Faced Card Rule

New 01 Sep 2011 Asked by hardwired-artificer 3 Comments

So for cards that turn cards face down such as Ixidron, what do you do for double-faced cards?

Double-faced cards cannot be turned face down.  Ixidron frowns.
