Am I allowed to move my Entirely Normal Armchair if I think that my opponent knows where it is? Or does it have to stay in the same place once hidden?

No, you can move it.

Armchair Battlefield Rules

New 08 Apr 2018 Asked by seabutcher 33 Comments

For the purposes of Entirely Normal Armchair, where is or is not defined as the battlefield? Can I activate an Entirely Normal Armchair I've had an assistant slip into my opponent's pocket?

No, it has to actually be on the battlefield (aka the playing surface of the game.

Card Handling Rules

Are my opponents allowed to touch my cards? (entirely normal armchair)

They don’t need to. They don’t have to see the Armchair to bounce it, just know it’s there.

Entirely Normal Armchair Rule

New 25 Dec 2017 Asked by calipygium-deactivated20190412 17 Comments

Sorry if this has been answered, but in regards to Entirely Normal Armchair, would I be able to generate mana, bluff paying for a morph play to put it face down on the battlefield, and essentially have it hide there in plain sight? The rules text didn't say anything about it needing to be face up, and this is my fave Unstable card.

There are rules that you can’t fake a Morph card as there is no way to confirm it.

Zero Mana Cost

New 16 Dec 2017 Asked by tungsten-pyre-blog 16 Comments

"Sacrifice zero won’t do anything unfortunately. A cost has to be something to actually work." But if it's a mana ability, 0 counts? Just checking because of entirely normal armchair. Thanks in advance

If you are sacrificing something it needs to be something. Zero mana is a different animal and is addressed by the rules.

Armchair Activation Rules

UnRules Question: Can my opponent activate "Entirely Normal Armchair" if it is underneath another card? ie He plays a Mountain with ENA underneath it. Does it have to be (subtly) unobscured at some point before he can activate the ability to sacrifice an attacking creature?

It can be hidden. Those armchairs are sneaky.

Goblin Jitte Adventure

New 09 Dec 2017 Asked by cannibalchrismtg 91 Comments

Last night, in one turn, I assembled 8 contraptions, cranked 11 of them with CLOCK OF DOOOOOOOM!, and attached my opponent with a 12/6 flying, trampling, triple striking goblin who was carrying an Umezawa's Jitte. He was swiftly devoured by an Entirely Normal Armchair. Thank you so much for this format. It is just the most fun.

Armchair Manifest Rules

New 08 Dec 2017 Asked by deisfortuna 18 Comments

Can Entirely Normal Armchair's abilities be activated if the card gets manifested, seeing as how it's technically on the battlefield and my opponent hasn't noticed?

No, you can’t.

Armchair's Hidden Presence

New 08 Dec 2017 Asked by reddurcs 63 Comments

Sometimes during a game my opponent will ask me what I have on the field, just to get an idea of what kind of blockers or threats I have. Am I allowed to omit an Entirely Normal Armchair from my answer? They asked for everything I've got, but it's in the spirit of the Armchair to lie about it.

You don’t have to tell them you have an Armchair.

Hiding Cards Rule

Since Ol' Buzzbark doesn't have Just a Second, can't my opponent just hide all their creatures?

You are not allowed to hide your cards. (Okay, other than Cheatyface and Entirely Normal Armchair).

I did. Very funny.

Armchair Abilities

New 23 Nov 2017 Asked by bigsphinxofquartz 17 Comments

is there anything preventing me from just activating Entirely Normal Armchair's second ability in response to my opponent activating its first ability, since it won't actually go back to my hand until the first ability resolves?

If there isn’t an attacking creature to target, you can’t use the second ability.

Morph Card Misrepresentation

New 19 Nov 2017 Asked by darksteelplatypus 35 Comments

I've been thinking of a bunch of ways to sneak Entirely Normal Armchair into play. How viable does "tapping for 3 and pretending to cast it as a morph card" sound?

Misrepresenting non-Morph cards as Morph cards is illegal.

Defending with Armchair

New 19 Nov 2017 Asked by mikstar890 34 Comments

If my opponent attacks me with a Party Crasher during my turn, can i just lazily put Entirely Normal Armchair onto the field, and activate to destroy it?

You have to technically “try to hide it” but essentially yes. The Party Crasher is vulnerable to the Chair.

Guessing Armchair Location

New 19 Nov 2017 Asked by codenamejd 42 Comments

If I just need to say there's an Entirely Normal Armchair under my opponent's cards to bounce it, then every turn before I attack, if they have two mana open, it seems like I'd want to say "It's under that forest, I bounce it. No? Well then, it's under that island, I bounce it!" If I'm worried about my attacks, based on what you've said so far I'll always want to try to bounce it :s

You can only activate it if you know where it is. If you attempt once and fail you’ve demonstrated you don’t know where it is and are done guessing.

Card Identification Rules

New 18 Nov 2017 Asked by summonthepack-blog 22 Comments

No, but they can say “It’s under your land, I activate it to return it to your hand.”

Hiding the Armchair

New 18 Nov 2017 Asked by vexing-devil 23 Comments

Can you hide Entirely Normal Armchair behind another card or does it have to be clearly visible on the battlefield?

It can be behind things. You are allowed to hide it in plain sight, put it out when your opponent is distracted.

Hiding Armchair Strategy

About Entirely Normal Armchair, is it fine to place it in one of your contraption sprocket columns when hiding it?

You may hide it wherever you like. Just remember “seeing it” means that an opponent is aware where it is.

Rules Misrepresentation

New 18 Nov 2017 Asked by siamkor 26 Comments

Can you tap 3 lands and play Entirely Normal Armchair face-down, as long as you don't in any way state it's a Morph creature, and just let your opponent believe it is (until the fateful moment it munches on their creature)?

No, that’s misrepresentation.
