Elvish Piper

Timmy Johnny Definition

New 24 Apr 2014 Asked by masterhelion 58 Comments

Two of my friend have been auguring on whether one of them is a Timmy or a Johnny, so we are turning to you to end it. He has a Commander deck that uses Survival of the Fittest and Elvish Piper to play any creature in the deck. She says because he is using a combo that makes him a Johnny. He says that the combo is meaningless and that, he simply enjoys the feeling of playing all his creatures from the deck. Please Maro your our only hope.

Psychographics are about why you play. Using a combo doesn’t make you a Johnny. Wanting to use Magic as a means to express yourself makes you a Johnny. I rule your friend is a Timmy. Court is now adjourned.

Un-cards to Black Borders

New 05 Feb 2013 Asked by tomaslw-deactivated20181230 3 Comments

There have been a few black bordered cards that started their lives as Un-cards. I kno that The Cheese Stands Alone became Barren Glory, Look at Me, I'm the DCI is very similar to Nevermore , Rocket-Powered Turbo Slug inspired the Pact-cycle and Infernal Spawn of Evil led to the Forecast mechanics. Are there any that I missed?

A bunch, yes. I’m not going be able to recall them all of the top of my head. The biggest is the split cards came from Unglued 2, the Un-set that never got made. Timmy. Power Gamer became Elvish Piper. The full-art lands and the token cards both got their start in Unglued. It’s unfortunately too early for my memory to be working at its best.

Are there any other "un" cards that are nearly identical to "real" magic cards?

Elvish Piper is similar to Timmy, Power Gamer but not exact.

Elvish Impersonator Humor

So...if my opponent has an Elvish Piper, and I cast Clone, am I justified in saying that I have an Elvish Impersonator?

Unglued already made that joke. : )

Un-sets to Regular Sets

Apart from The Cheese Stands Alone/Barren Glory, have any card from Un-sets ever been printed in regular sets?

Barren Glory is the only exact mechanical copy. Timmy, Power Gamer was turned into Elvish Piper which is similar but not exact.
