Capsize

Reprint Request

New 02 Dec 2023 Asked by razorofartorias 26 Comments

Hi Mark! I hope you are having a great weekend. I don't know if you can pass this message to the team that handles reprints to put in the to-reprint list the ten common cards that still had a old frame on the Pauper Cube: Deftblade Elite, Phantom Nomad, Capsize, Miscalculation, Ashes to Ashes, Pestilence, Tortured Existence, Silver Drake, Temporal Spring and Cavern Harpy. Thanks!

I’ll pass the list along.

Silver Border Rules

New 24 Jan 2020 Asked by ricketyeng 24 Comments

Silver border rules question: does Rarity's discount apply to masterpiece series cards? That is, would her cost reduction apply to the invocation version of Capsize?

It only applies to cards with a rare or mythic rare rarity. Super Secret Tech will work with masterpiece cards because it affects “premium spells”.

Draw-Go Explanation

New 01 Aug 2016 Asked by braveswordwielder 104 Comments

FYI: Draw-Go was a Tempest/Urza's Block-era control deck that typically ran 1 hard-to-kill creature (Rainbow Efreet, Morphling), 26-28 lands, 26-28 counterspells (most of which were hard counters), and sometimes a few copies of Nevinyrral's Disk or Capsize. It's hard for recent players to understand how oppressive and un-fun it was. No deck in the past fifteen years or so has truly resembled it, and for good reason.

Buyback Mechanic Issues

New 14 May 2014 Asked by evouga 24 Comments

What is the problem with buyback? It is 1) beloved by all psychographics, and 2) generally looks better than it is, which sounds perfect for a mechanic... Whispers of the Muse and Capsize were mistakes, but Reiterate, Fanning the Flames, Verdant Touch, Clockspinning, Corpse Dance, etc were all perfectly fun and balanced cards.

The problem is that it isn’t worse than it looks. Journey Into Nyx tried to bring it back and it was too good.
