Status of Memnite Card

"If or when: a zero mana artifact card with no text"I would argue we already have that in Memnite.

Good point. : )

Isn't memnite a vanilla creature without a mana cost?

0 is a cost.

RE: "Which artifact, Richard inquired as Magic had numerous broken artifacts? “Ornithopter,” they replied." they made mnemite cry :(

Memnite didn’t exist when the story happened.

Memnite Reprinting Conditions

Could Memnite be reprinted in a set that doesn't care about artifacts?

A functional reprint perhaps. Memnite is pretty tied to Mirrodin/New Phyrexia.

Memnite Reprinting Possibility

Given the reprinting of Ornithopter, could you ever see reprinting Memnite, even in a supplemental set?

I could see it, yes.

Green's Power Level

New 14 Jun 2014 Asked by thegreatmill 18 Comments

I know you've tried it out, so I'm just going to go ahead and ask. With Memnite (1/1 for 0) printed and Elite Vanguard at uncommon (2/1 for W) Do you feel the 2/2 for G is too powerful for the current Standard environment or are you saving it for something special?

Green doesn’t get a 2/2 for G straight up. White I believe can get it with a slight limitation (like say being a legendary creature).

Faux Black Lotus Premiumness

New 08 Apr 2014 Asked by popcornbunni 14 Comments

If I have Richard Garfield, PhD out, and I play a premium Memnite, turning it into a Black Lotus, is the faux Black Lotus still premium?

Yes, it’s premium if the original is.

Richard Garfield Rules

New 14 Feb 2014 Asked by homura--akememe 14 Comments

un rules question: if i have Richard Garfield on the field, are lands considered to have a mana cost of 0? and therefore i could play them as, say, a memnite, or a black lotus?

No. Lands do not have a converted mana cost. When you force the game to come up with one, it will say 0, but they do not naturally have a converted mana cost.

Memnite Functional Reprints

Please make 14 different functional reprints of Memnite so I can play an entire deck of them.

I’m not sure development is going to go in on this one.

Un-rules Clarification

New 04 Aug 2013 Asked by latentlactose 6 Comments

Un-rules question: For the purposes of Richard Garfield, zero CMC is not the same as no CMC (like on, say, Living End), correct? I cannot play a Memnite and turn it into Restore Balance, right?

That is correct - no mana cost is not the same as a mana cost of 0.

Memnite's Rarity

Why is Memnite uncommon? It's the perfect example of vanilla.

Vanilla is not just a common thing.

Zero Cost Spells

New 13 Apr 2012 Asked by ddi-pixelvenser-deactivated2012 2 Comments

Now that I got started on asking about vanillas, could other creature types or traits get memnite alikes? If not, explanation why (maybe being an artifact is a drawback enough to render memnite as uncommon)?

0 cost colored spells are a pain because the color of the mana is what defines the color of the card.
