Legendary Character Cards

New 14 Feb 2020 Asked by filobel 44 Comments

Do you recall what the rationale was back in the day for printing legendary characters as generic characters? For instance, in Weatherlight, Maraxus got a legendary card, but Gerrard was printed on the generic "Master of Arms" card, and only got a legendary card in Apocalypse. What was the philosophy for printing characters at the time?

Master of Arms was a role that many people filled, including Gerrard. We put Gerrard in the art just to get more Gerrard art in the set. There was always plans to print a Gerrard card.

Weatherlight Saga Trivia

New 28 Jul 2014 Asked by myarmadahaswurms 22 Comments

Today is my birthday! Was wondering if you could me trivia on two of my old school favorites to play together in the same deck! Maraxus of keld and verdant force! Thanks!

We were planning to start the Weatherlight Saga in Tempest, but the brand manager was so excited he pushed us to start in Weatherlight. The card for Maraxus of Keld had already been designed, so we wrote the climax of the story (Gerard getting all the people to leave thus depowering him) to match how Maraxus worked mechanically. Happy Birthday!

Red's Capacity for Lies

New 02 Dec 2013 Asked by hamitasgarov 11 Comments

But Starke was a liar. He lied when he killed Maraxus of Keld, the Oracle didn't believe him… He was, in one word, manipulative. Can red do that?

Red absolutely can lie. In fact, any color can lie. The issue is what was their motivation for lying?
