Goblin Tutor

Random Tutor Effects

If random tutor effects are inherently bad, then surely a 0 mana Goblin Tutor wouldn't end up banned in Legacy or something. Not that such a card would be printed, but I feel like anything in Magic that (usually) costs no mana is inherently broken.

The issue is we don’t want tournament-viable cards to be too high variance. It’s not that such designs couldn’t be made. It’s that we refuse to do it.

Red Tutor Variability

"Hi Mark, can we have a good red tutor now that dice rolling is black border? Something similar to goblin tutor but all numbers give something? Doesn’t random fight with a tutor being good? " Inherently? No.

I would argue inherently yes.

Red Tutoring Issue

Me: “Tutor role call!” White: “enlighten tutor” Blue, “mystical tutor” Black, “vampiric, demonic, diabolic tutor, and razaketh’s rite” Green, “worldly tutor” Red, **sits quietly** Uh we have Uh....goblin tutor?” Me: “that’s an unglued card sorry not legal.” Red: **crying internally.** So yeah that’s my question, why doesn’t red have a mono color instant/sorcery tutor spell that searches for a card without a back fire like discard at random, life loss, specific tribe etcetera?

Red’s the color bad at planning ahead.

Squirrel Dice Mechanics

Can the squirrel cards increment your dice result past the amount allowed by the dice rolled? If yes how does that affect cards like Goblin Tutor or Jack-in-the-Mox?

It can. You can roll a 7 on a 6-sided die with Snickering Squirrel. For Unglued cards, if you roll a result not listed on the card, nothing happens.
