Fighter Class

Reconfigure as Equip Ability

For cards like Bruenor, Nahiri, Storm of Stone and Fighter Class, does reconfigure count as an "equip ability"?

They turn into equipment, so I assume so.

Characterizing Fighter Class

New 03 Jul 2021 Asked by nightfiremelody 28 Comments

Purely from a color pie perspective (and not a power level perspective) it seems to me that Fighter class could have been a hybrid RW card. Is this true? I ask because it is impressive to me that such a flavorful (and relatively complex) card could be made entirely of overlapping mechanics.

Level 1 and 2 could be red/white hybrid. Level 3 is red and not white.

Choosing Fighter Class Over Knight

New 08 Dec 2020 Asked by yoh102 49 Comments

Mark, did you ever consider knight as the fighter class for party? I think the execution of warriors in ZNR is too close mechanically to WR knights in ELD, like it feels like many cards want to be in the same deck (with equipment) but don't synergize because of the different tribal payoffs

We were trying to capture the essence of the fighter class in D&D which is too far away from Knight.

Barbarian vs Warrior Classification

Why isn't Barbarian the standard fighter class for red? We have Warriors, but Barbarian carries a more distinct flavor, and a lot of the Warriors that appear in red could reasonably be classified as Barbarians.

That’s not true. Only a small subset of the Warriors in red would be Barbarians, even if we were being loose in definition.
