Curious Killbot Oracle Text

Would you ever be able to Oracle text curious killbot to have the shadowborn apostle ruling? (Any number in deck)

The reason we made four of them (Killbot variants with different names) was so you could essentially have sixteen in your deck. That’s not enough? : )

Killbot Variant Concept

What if: Each variants of killbot that we have had a different keyword(eg. Trample, First Strike, Flying, Menace, Lifelink(or even "looting" for the Curious Killbot)) without changing the mana cost and P/T. Could it have been feasible?

The point of the variant was simply to let you play with up to 16 of them.

Swapping Creatures

Mark, if my opponent has Dr. Julius Jumblemorph and I have Mary O'Kill with a Curious Killbot in hand, can I use Mary O'Kill's ability to swap Dr. Jumblemorph with the Killbot in my hand? If so, whose hand does Dr. Jumblemorph go to?

You can. Your opponent’s Julius Jumblemorph would change to your control and end up in your hand. The Killbot would go to your opponent’s control on the battlefield. Note that your Mary has to be on the battlefield to do this. Remember to exchange them back at the end of the game.

Unstable's Black-Bordered Cards

New 17 Nov 2017 Asked by thornthallid 38 Comments

Hi Mark. Some of the Unstable previews are slightly confusing to me. I thought the rule for un-cards was that they had to do something you couldn't do in black border, but Crow Storm, Curious Killbot and especially Amateur Auteur (which dosn't even have an odd creature type) are all very doable (and in some cases have in fact been done) in black border, Has the "rule" been relaxed for the sake of limited play?

Yes, making limited work required us to use a few simple black-borderedable cards at common.

Curious Killbot Printing Decision

New 17 Nov 2017 Asked by jdrawer01 30 Comments

Steamflogger Boss proves it possible to print black bordered cards in Unstable. Why wasn't Curious Killbot printed as a black bordered card?

Because it was printed on the sheet with silver borders. Would you rather get it instead of a land? : )

Drafting Necessity Choices

I'm kind of disappointed to see cards like Amateur Auteur and Curious Killbot in Unstable, which are functionally identical to existing black-bordered cards. Am I correct in assuming these kinds of things were done to make the set more draftable? Was it something you tried to avoid but determined was necessary?

It was a necessity for limited play. There’s not a lot of them.
