Is Spy Network still in color for Blue? Or is having access to that type of information more in Black's color pie nowadays?

It’s still in pie for blue.

Origins-Kaladesh Gap

New 19 Oct 2016 Asked by gophilipbowles 27 Comments

Given the UR legend discussion, in retrospect do you think it would have been better if you'd waited longer between Origins and Kaladesh? This was a rare opportunity to 'preview' a plane to see what people liked. By not giving yourselves time to get feedback it seems that a lot of the opportunities this provided - the UR Limited archetype, Thopters as a prominent feature, the UR legend, and reprints of popular, safe cards (any of Spy Network, Foundry of the Consuls, Hangarback) - were missed.

Time wouldn’t have changed that much.

Thopter Spy Network Trivia

Hi Mark! For my birthday, could I have some trivia on my favorite card from Origins - Thopter Spy Network? (Failing that, I'd also accept trivia about the Thopter archetype in Origins in general.)

The Origins design team had to figure out how to give Blue and Red cards a feel of Kaladesh. They knew it had to have an artifact component but how to do that with colored cards? They eventually found the solution - an artifact token. Playtesting showed that it needed some kind of evasion and thus Thopters were born. Happy Birthday!

Green's Card Draw Potential

Is an effect like thropter spy network or costal piracy (whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to an opponent draw a card) something that could be done in Green?

Yes, “curiosity” is in Blue and Green.

Stifle's Designer

New 13 Nov 2012 Asked by kickarseforthelord-deactivated2 2 Comments

Possibly my favorite legacy-playable card is Stifle (sorry Spy Network...), do you know who designed that, so I could send some in and get them signed?

I tried multiple times to get a card like Stifle made but I believe the one that saw print was the creation of Brian Tinsman (he was the lead of Scourge, the set it appeared in).
