Settle the Wreckage

Naming Game Mechanics

Could a game mechanic share a name with part of a card? Say you want to design a mechanic called “Settle” would you try to find a different name because of “settle the wreckage”?

We’re careful about how we use evergreen words, but just because we used a word years ago doesn’t mean we can’t use it for a keyword now.

Defense of Hexproof

Hi Mark, I'm sure others will disagree but I think hexproof is a good and necessary part of green. It feels pretty balanced to me in Standard leaning to higher CMC, and with other colors having non-targeting removal options: multiple board wipes, forced sacrifice, Dispersal, blanket -X/-X, Settle the Wreckage, etc. I wouldn't mind a move to Shroud though if it led to less complaints. :)

While hexproof has its foes, it actually has a lot of fans. I think it’s a more popular mechanic than most people think.

White's Four-Mana Magic

But being the best at big spells include being able to ramp or to cheat them into play, things that white normally isn't good at all, but I get your point. One thing I've noticed is that with 4 mana White starts doing some pretty strong stuff (Smothering Tithe, Angelic Exaltation, Jazal Goldmane, Ressurrection/False Defeat/Breath of Life, Hero of Bladehold, Settle the Wreckage and so on). What's the explanation for that 4-mana-boundary? Is that something particular to White or not?

White isn’t best at big spells.

"Get Basic Land" Colors

In the wake of Assassin's Trophy this was likely asked before but I didn't find it. What colors get the "get a basic from your deck" drawback? Up to GRN we thought only White with cards like Path to Exile and Settle the Wreckage.

Green is the land fetching color so probably white and green.
