Mirror Mirror Mention

New 02 Nov 2022 Asked by squirreling-dervish 13 Comments

Regarding "Mirror Mirror" vs "Phyrexian" queries, it seems that now searches for "Mirror Mirror" now return a single result, which is the question about search results. (If you publish this, then this one will probably join it.) Have you ever mentioned "Mirror Mirror" before?

Not that I remember, but I’ve answered a *lot* of questions.

Blog Search Issue

New 01 Nov 2022 Asked by skibulk 22 Comments

Not sure if this is something you can fix, but when I search for "Mirror Mirror" on your blog, I am presented with 31 pages of *blank* results. On the other hand, "phyrexian" works correctly and returns 145 pages of actual results.

Can anyone help with understanding why this happens?

Exchanging Hands Potential

Can the rules handle exchanging hands with another player?
Can the un rules handle that?

Black border can’t do that, but silver border can. For example, Mirror Mirror from Unglued does. The reason is black border doesn’t allow you to put opponent’s cards in your hand.

Command Zone Swap

Un-Rules Question: For EDH, does Mirror Mirror and Everythingamajig(F) exchange control of Command Zones? Or are the commanders still tied to the player they sat down with? I’ve seen you say that Conspiracies move with the player so the intent is everything moves, so my current assumptions is you would trade Command Zones.

The intent is you’r playing each other’s game so everything changes including Command Zone.

Silver-Border Fun

Could silver-border have people change seating order?

Sure. Mirror Mirror in Unglued already did it.

Black Border in Silver

"Are black border cards legal in a silver border tournament?" "Absolutely. In fact, encouraged." Hold on a sec, doesn't that run afoul of the "no destroying your opponent's cards" rule? If I stick a Take Possession on my opponent's Chaos Confetti, I could then tear up my opponent's card.

You don’t need black border cards to create that problem. Mirror Mirror, for example can do it. If you play Chaos Confetti or Blacker Lotus you run the risk of it being ripped up not by you.

Silver Border Mechanics

"We don’t let players put other players’ cards into their hand. Silver border does it though." is there an un-card that already does this, or did you just spoil Un3?

Mirror Mirror from Unglued.

Un-card Rulings

New 09 Jun 2014 Asked by bluelotus0-blog 15 Comments

I need an Un-card ruling. If I played Mirror Mirror during a Conspiracy draft, then exchanged places with an opponent would each player keep conspiracies or switch conspiracies as well?

The intent is you switches places so switch everything.

Black Border Rules

New 23 May 2014 Asked by kerrjf 15 Comments

Why can't Mirror Mirror be printed in black border? There already exist cards like Thieve's Auction and Scrambleverse that cause mass change of control of permanents and Shared Fate where you now draw cards from another players deck. It would also be much quicker to resolve Mirror Mirror then a Thieve's Auction or Scrambleverse.

Black border has a rule that I don’t put other people’s cards in my hand. Silver border dies not have this rule.

Mirror Mirror Legality

New 23 Jul 2012 Asked by curtherocker 4 Comments

Could we ever see something like Mirror Mirror be legal?

The actual card? For sure no as we don’t print cards in both black-border and silver-border with the same name. As a renamed card a la Barren Glory? Still no as we don’t let you put your opponent’s cards in your hand in black-bordered Magic.

Black Border Potential

Gerrymandering, Goblin bookie, Hungry Hungry Heifer, Mine mine mine!, mirror mirror, once more with feeling. Could these cards be printed in black bordered world with color pie and ruling ajustments?

Assuming we avoid the same name in black border/silver border issue, here’s where they stand: Gerrymandering: Fine in black border. Quirky for green but doable. Goblin Bookie: Has the problem of dice not meaning anything in black bordered Magic. Fits red fine. Hungry Hungry Heifer: Could be done in black border design-wise. I don’t know about development-wise. I’m not sure what color gets this philosophically so green seems fine. Mine, Mine, Mine!: Same as Hungry Hungry Heifer except I think I know this is broken development-wise. Pretty sure this wants to be blue not green. Once More With Feeling: Fine design-wise. I think fine development-wise but not my call. White seems fine.
