Could red get a goblin-flavored Trinket Mage?

Once again, don’t eat the cards! We let red do a little Goblin tutoring, so maybe.

White's Tutor Restrictions

New 24 Mar 2019 Asked by mentor42 27 Comments

Is searching for a CMC 0-1 artefact in color for white? If so, would it be allowed on a 3 mana creature, like with blues trinket mage?

We let white tutor for equipment but not just any artifact, even cheap ones.

Trinket Naming Logic

New 31 Jan 2017 Asked by thegreatmill 60 Comments

The fourth card of the Trinket Mage school shouldn't start with "T"... It should start with "Tr"!!! (Probably impossible but if it's a possibility, do it.)

I was setting realistic expectations.

Potential Mage Trio

New 24 Feb 2013 Asked by chantryg 5 Comments

Trinket Mage gets a 1 or less artifact, Treasure Mage gets 6 or more... The part of my mind that loves to see patterns "completed" wants to see a third mage in the trio that gets an artifact with cmc 2, 3, 4, or 5. Too awkward to print, or too awesome not to print? (Bonus the name starts with a T)

Sometimes the pattern is just the ends.

Artifact Lands Caution

is it possible to see a fair artifact land printed? every time i see a broken card.... I just want to use it in a non broken way like using Trinket Mage so i dont miss my 4 drop

Last time we did artifact lands, it didn’t go that well, so I don’t expect us going back to that well anytime soon.

Blue's Artifact Affinity

New 04 Apr 2012 Asked by deliani25 5 Comments

Not sure if this has been asked before, but why has Blue been the color most closely tied to artifacts? Scars of Mirrodin block spread the artifact colors out more, but Blue seems to be the original "artifact color" (tinker, trinket mage, etc). Was it a flavor decision, a good idea mechanically to have some color be able to interact with artifacts, or both?

Blue’s affinity for artifacts (its English meaning not the Mirrodin mechanic) stems from blue’s conflict with green. The nature/nurture conflict is centered in the disagreement about where one’s potential comes from. Green believes you are born with your destiny while blue believes you are born a blank slate with potential to be anything. This believe in the ability to become anything is what drives blue to seek out knowledge and technology. Blue embraces whatever tools it can get its hands on because blue believes that those tools allow it to attain whatever it needs. That is why blue loves artifacts (and green hates them).
