Plague Wind

White vs Black Powers

New 23 Jun 2022 Asked by j-waffles 49 Comments

Could mono- white ever see a plague wind effect, or do white board wipes HAVE to be universal?

White can wipe all of a quality from the battlefield and build around it, but specifically just destroying the opponent’s creatures is black not white.

Wording Differences in Controls

Hey Mark,Is there a reason for the wording difference “you don’t control” VS “your opponents control” ?For example… see “Plague Wind” VS “Ruinous Ultimatum”

It matters in formats with teammates like Two-Headed Giant.

Wraths Insights

If my searching skills aren't failing me, there've been 3-4 Wraths that keep your own board alive, all in black, like you said. (Dread Cacodemon, In Garruk's Wake, Overwhelming Forces for 1v1, Plague Wind) There've been two instant speed wraths (Fated Retribution, Rout) So it looks like one sided wraths are more likely.

Plague Wind Effects Colorshift

Could we get Plague Wind effects permanently colorshifted to white?

No, just destroying the opponent’s creatures is not philosophically white. The best we might be able to do is destroy all black and red creatures.

White Removal Style

Could white get Plague Wind's effect? (Without the anti regeneration clause) " I protect my guys, but yours are evil and must die" seems white, and white gets wraths

White’s creature removal tends to affect everyone, but it can be a subset that you might not have in your deck.

Eldrazi Inclusion Criteria

New 04 Mar 2018 Asked by blaze-1013 37 Comments

"They (the big colorless ones - aka the most iconic Eldrazi) tend to need a decent amount of support and are hard to splash." While I get limited concerns stuff like Nicol Bolas, Conflux, Akroma, Plague Wind and Sundering Titan are similarly hard to cast and Chalice of the Void, Doomsday, and Blood Moon don't even do anything in limited. Personally, if Conflux can make it an Eldrazi should have been a high enough priority to also make it.

The problem is if we included everything that some players felt “must be included”, it wouldn’t all fit. It’s easy to look through the lens of “no, just this one thing” and find space, but that’s not the reality of how a set like Masters 25 is put together.
