History of Benalia

Color Cost Restriction

Hey Mark, do certain colours generally get more/less restrictive costs? It seems that White and Blue tend to have their strongest cards at 1WW and 1UU, while red gets them at 2R.E.g. Brazen Borrower vs Bonecrusher Giant, or History of Benalia vs Fable of the Mirror Breaker

It’s based on what effects we want to be less splashable.

Card Templating Choice

History of Benalia says "Knights you control get +2/+1 until end of turn" instead of "Knight creatures," and Rushblade Commander simply gives haste to "Warriors your team controls." Is it a conscious decision that you haven't been specifying creatures?

When when introduced the Tribal card type, it forced us to specify the card type. Now that we’ve stopped using the Tribal card type, we’ve relaxed the templating restrictions back to where they were before Tribal was introduced.

Personally, I liked the way phyrexian scriptures looked but a lot of my play group didn't, however after seeing history of benalia, everyone in my play group loves the way they look. Stunning art and a nice frame. Very well done

Thank you. James, our graphic designer, did amazing work.
