Enamel Pin Colour for Big Top

New 20 Jun 2024 Asked by old-planet 27 Comments

Hi Mark! Un-question! If I pin an enamel pin to my shirt, can I count its colours for The Big Top?

It does not. It’s the color of the clothes, not things attached to them.

Humorous FAQ Scenario

If I wear Wonder Woman’s invisible jet as a shirt, does that make The Big Top tap for colorless : )

If I ever get around to redoing my FAQ, I have some new questions. : )

Mystical Item Risk

New 18 Oct 2022 Asked by yaksha89 57 Comments

Dear Maro, I've managed to aquire a colorless top. Don't ask how, it causes 1d4 psychic damage to anyone who looks at it for at least 30 seconds. Can I hastily put it on, tap the big top for colorless then remove it before it causes harm?

There are forces of nature we just shouldn’t mess with.

Snow Mana Misconception

Can The Big Top produce snow mana if you're wearing a shirt that's covered in snow?

No, nor Phyrexian mana if you’re covered in Phyrexians.

Since The Big Top looks at the color of the top, will the controller not wearing a top allow the generation of colorless mana?

No.

Un-set Mechanics Feedback

New 05 Oct 2022 Asked by culation 41 Comments

As a Spike/Jenny who loves Un-sets, and wants to draft them and win games, I hate that approaching cards as puzzles and trying to set up advantages beforehand is considered "cheating". (For example, I'm scared to talk to my friends at all about Phone A Friend's existence, since that might end up influencing their decisions, meaning one less person available to call.) Next time around, can we instead get more practice-friendly challenge/minigame designs like Dart Throw, D00-DL, and The Big Top?

What the right choice is for Phone a Friend is super game dependent. You can talk with them about its existence. They just can’t know your board state. Having four friends that always give the same answer (one for each choice, so you call who you need) is cheating.

Big Top Apparel Queries

New 25 Sep 2022 Asked by dapper-delinquent 21 Comments

Hey Mark, clarification about The Big Top: what counts as a top? If i wear a suit, can i count my dress shirt, jacket, or tie as having the color i pick? What about just a dress? "Outerwear garment worn in the upper body" seems overly vague, and seems to imply things like a-shirts, undershirts, and dresses dont count, as they are not "outerwear", but a jacket with nothing underneath WOULD count

You can count your jacket, shirt, and tie.

Colorblind Shirt Concerns

New 25 Sep 2022 Asked by coboney 20 Comments

How does the Big Top interact with colorblind people? Shirts I see sometimes as green or red are viewed by most people as the opposite (other issues can include blue/purple and the like)

The colorblind person can ask someone what colors are on their shirt if they are unaware.

No. Everyone, join in: Colorless is not a color. : )

Unicycle Design Debate

New 23 May 2018 Asked by theeverlastingdave 72 Comments

I’m in the weeds on this whole Unicycle thing. On the one hand, vehicles are vehicles. On the other hand, a unicycle’s purpose in the big top is closer to an equipment, as other QMs have pointed out. I think the best design in the GDS was a vehicle, but some of the equipments weren’t too far off. And for me, the flavor is closer to Hot Soup than any printed vehicle. So yeah, I’m 50/50. Thanks for making this a conversation, it’s been fun.

Finding minor issues to endless quibble about is what Blogatog was made for. : )

Circus Block Joke

So you can just say anything and we'll take it as an April fools joke. Anything you want to "reveal"?

I’m proud to announce the new circus inspired block called Squirrels of the Big Top.
