"Yes, as they do fly." - Roadrunners fly, but you didn't give Resilient Roadrunner flying.

The Roadrunner we were referencing never flew. : )

Hi Mark! How was Resilient Roadrunner received? Can we expect more flightless birds in the future?

I haven’t seen the data yet. What did you all think of it?

Coyote and Roadrunner Mechanics

I love the little shoutout with Cunning Coyote and Resilient Roadrunner. Is there an internal codename keyword for the Roadrunner’s “can only be blocked by creatures with haste” activated ability?

Not really. It’s the “Gingerbrute ability”.

Unblockable Mechanics

Hello! When you have a "can't be blocked except by creatures with haste" effect as on Resilient Roadrunner, do you balance it as if it made the creature unblockable altogether? Or does it get discounted somewhat since haste is more common than, say, shadow or horsemanship?P.S.: Please distribute high fives for whoever's responsible for Prairie Dog (maybe it's you). I sent an ask maybe a year ago about expanding Magic's squirrel family, so I'm pretty pleased by this one.

It’s treated similar to can’t be blocked.High fives shall be delivered (not to me though).

Humor in Outlaws

Wanted to mention, I think the level of comedy in Outlaws of Thunder Junction is absolutely perfect. Loan Shark, Holy Cow, Resilient Roadrunner, things that are subtle enough to not draw a ton of attention to themselves but still self-conscious and funny. Can you give high-fives to whoever's idea that was?

Will do.

Roadrunner Protection Logic

New 28 Mar 2024 Asked by kallixti 148 Comments

Why does Resilient Roadrunner get protection from Coyotes? Protection entirely eliminates the need to run from them.

The Roadrunner runs because it enjoys running, not because it’s trying to get away from the Coyote. I don’t think it considers the Coyote a threat. : )

Roadrunner's Evasion Mechanic

New 28 Mar 2024 Asked by krinstranger 30 Comments

Is the Resilient Roadrunner evasion (also seen on Gingerbrute) something that R&D is warming up on? It's kind of charming to me, like a hidden Flying variant.

It’s a tool to represent speed that we’ll use when appropriate.

Non-flying Birds

New 28 Mar 2024 Asked by lookingupanddown 39 Comments

Even with the cartoon it's referencing, was there a worry that Resilient Roadrunner leads to the Bronzebeak Moa problem that players might think it has flying?

Just last week, I said we one day might try a non-flying Bird. : )

Cartoon Characters

I appreciate that you got Wile E. Coyote (Crafty Coyote) and Road Runner (Resilient Roadrunner) into the set, and wanted to know how many other people got the reference.
