Nerf War

Game Zones Targeting

New 29 Feb 2024 Asked by rowanalpha 17 Comments

“Q) If zones of the game such as hands, graveyards, libraries, ect were considered by the rules to be a little bit more like objects and thus be able to be targeted directly do you think that would that open up design space for y’all or limit it? A) It doesn’t open up much design space.”Interestingly, a library could be targeted for a time (See - Circu, Dimir Lobotomist), but the ability has since been errata’d to “target player’s library” on every card that did except Nerf War.

Un-cards definitely can (and have) targeted libraries. The main rules have moved away from it.

Un-Combo Excitement

Mark, you and your team gave given me the perfect Un-combo: I cast Form of the Approach of the Second Sun. I then cast Fractured Identity on it, so my opponent creates a copy of it. Then I cast Nerf War. I cannot wait to play with Unfinity!

Silver-Border Commander Support

New 22 Aug 2019 Asked by wertercatt 38 Comments

Is there any hope for future support for Silver-Border Commander? I really want a Silver commander I can use Nerf War with since I realized that my dream of running it with Grimlock won't work because the big dino boy isn't Blue.

If I get to make another Un-set, I’ll definitely make more legendary creatures.

Nerf War Specifications

Just as a correction, Nerf War specifies that you have to use a Nerf blaster that fires foam darts. Disk and pellet blasters are no good.

Good catch. It must shoot darts.

Nerf Blaster Types

New 09 Feb 2019 Asked by wertercatt 36 Comments

In regards to Nerf War, what all counts as a Nerf Blaster? Am I limited to Mavericks and other semi-auto Nerf guns or can I just mill someone to death with a full-auto 25 dart Rampage?

If it’s made by Nerf and it’s a blaster (something that shoots darts, discs or pellets), you’re good.

HasCon Promo Reprints

New 16 Sep 2017 Asked by slimefoot-the-goaway 36 Comments

Recently picked up a set of has conseguido promos on eBay for Dino-tribal, can I consider the hascon promo cards (sword and token excluded) will not see a reprint?

Sword of Dungeons & Dragons is in Unstable. Grimlok & Nerf War are unlikely to be reprinted.

Design Contributions

I heard Ken Nagle designed Hescon promo Grimlock. Little while ago, you said you designed one of the Hecon promos. Is Nerf War is the card you designed?

I had a hand in designing Sword of Dungeons & Dragons. It was created in Unstable design.

Concede on Nerf War

New 30 Jul 2017 Asked by daracaex 100 Comments

What do I do if someone plays Nerf War and I don't want someone shooting projectiles and making a mess of – and possibly damaging – my cards?

You are always allowed to concede before the card resolves.

Promo Cards Future

New 29 Jul 2017 Asked by bibbothefirst 43 Comments

I'm very sad I'll never get to cast Nerf war as it is a special promo that I don't have access to. Are there any future plans to make these promos in Un4?

These promos (with the exception of Sword of Dungeons & Dragons that was actually designed for Unstable) are a lot like the holiday cards. They are designed to be more entertaining to read than to play because we know that the vast majority of the audience will experience them through that lens.

Hascon Promos Feedback

New 29 Jul 2017 Asked by jonathan-hecht 36 Comments

A few things about the hascon promos Sword - perfect Grimlock - im happy it supports two tribes at once (and one that isnt really in the game) Nerf war - oh my god its so funny but the fact that its in an enemy color combination is a nonbo with Unstables ally color factions

Unstable has more going on than just factions. You will be able to play enemy colors together.

Narrow Hascon Card Appeal

New 29 Jul 2017 Asked by calintares 59 Comments

Both Nerf War and Grimlock feels narrow. I own neither any Transformers nor any Nerf things. how would you respond to people living in a country where those things aren't widely available? The D&D sword at least work regardless of people playing D&D. but the others are going to be pointless to lots of people, demanding that people bring unrelated toys with them or cards won't work is stupid.

They’re promotional cards showing up only in a special box. The only one showing up in an actual booster product is the one you admit plays the best in isolation.

Nerf Gun Specifications

New 29 Jul 2017 Asked by arkouchie-blog 102 Comments

With nerf war, does the kind of Nerf gun matter? Could I, for example, use a Longshot or a scattershot?

As long as it’s an actual Nerf gun, it uses darts and it’s unmodded, you’re good to go.

Nerf War Specifications

New 28 Jul 2017 Asked by eight-times-nine 48 Comments

Does Nerf War allow for use of disc-based Nerf-brand launchers, or are only dart-based Nerf-brand launchers allowed?

Only dart based.

Foam Dart Exclusivity

New 28 Jul 2017 Asked by dace67 68 Comments

I'm disappointed that Nerf War (the Hascon promo) specifies only foam Nerf darts. Why no love for the foam Nerf disc guns?

We’re conserving design space. : )

R&D Nerf Shootouts Frequency

New 29 Mar 2014 Asked by elihuaran 22 Comments

How often did/does an impromptu Nerf shootout break out at R&D?

Not enough. : ) (Once every other year.) It used to happen about once a month (and often more frequent than that) back in the day. We even had Nerf War days.
