Hey Mark! If or When: a world where elves tend more to blue/white (as high elves, for example) instead of green (as wood elves)? Arcane, studious, hierarquical wizard elves is a common trope that I miss on mtg

If. We like to stretch creature types to other colors on different worlds, but we usually don’t pull them out of their primary color.

Justification for Characteristic Race

If "Wood Elves" are the Green Characteristic Race, can't "High Elves" be the White Characteristic Race? Is there a rule against using two races with the same creature type in this way?

Yes, we don’t want two characteristic races being the same.

Elves in Magic

Why have Magic Elves been based off of Wood Elf tropes for 27 years but no High Elf tropes? There are 10 Mono-White Elves and 331 Mono-Green Elves, when Elf tropes are as much White as Green.

We chose to make them green’s characteristic race, so we’ve leaned on the wood elves.

Land Search and Play Mechanic

Hey Mark! There's quite a few cards like Wood Elves that search for a Forest and puts it into play, and Knight of the White Orchid that searches for Plains and puts it into play. Could Islands, Mountains, or Swamps be individually named and put into play? I know there are cards that get any land, I'm asking if those three subtypes could be specifically named and put into play on a single ability. If so, what color would that ability be?

There are cards with landcycling that do that in each of those colors.
