Werewolves on Different Planes

New 27 Jul 2024 Asked by zozocracked 3 Comments

If you did werewolves on a different plane, do you think they’d still be TDFCs, or would you do them different? And if they were TDFCs, do you think their Transformation condition would be the same or different?

I think we’d probably make Werewolves on another plane singled-faced.

Animal Colors Representation

On the topic of animal colors, why do we keep getting creatures of the night in Gruul colors? Most recently we had werewolves and raccoons show up in RG. Which one of these colors is supposed to be resonating with their affinity amongst the darkness? Red? Because it's closest to black? I feel like it's having a plant show up in Blue/White

Nocturnal animals don’t have to show up in black. Raccoons got red for their trickster nature.

DFCs and Sagas Rarity Debate

New 02 Mar 2022 Asked by zackdes44 38 Comments

Not a question, just a thought from a semi-enfranchised player. I like DFCs, and I like Sagas; however, being printed at all rarities and power levels makes them feel less special/good. I understand Sagas need the right plane/story to make sense, so seeing them occasionally isn't bad, I'd just like to see them at the rare/more complex level, and not have them at uncommon or common. For DFCs, I'd be fine if they were in every set or nearly every set, but again, only at a higher rarity/complexity.

I believe both DFCs and Sagas tend to skew towards the higher rarities, but I do believe there are designs where they make sense at lower rarities. For example, it is near impossible to make Werewolves a draftable archetype without common Werewolves.

Tribal Planeswalker Concept

Not that this would ever happen, but if the Tribal card type was still supported, would the rules support Arlinn Kord being a "Tribal Planeswalker - Werewolf Arlinn"?

We’ve chosen to have planeswalkers transcend their type (Karn isn’t an artifact) and subtype (Ajani isn’t a Cat).

Legendary Werewolf Challenge

I just noticed there wasn't a legendary DFC werewolf. Was there not enough space in the block for one? I'm a huge fan of legendary creatures (Karn, Silver Golem was my first, I got him way back when Urza Block was new), and I was sad that there wasn't a legendary werewolf.

All werewolves in the block were double-faced and we didn’t solve how to make a creature that can switch to and fro legendary without issues arising.
