Weakstone

Color Pie Adjustments

First, I love the general push for Blue getting more viable enchantment-based control spells like Bubble Snare and Weakstone's Subjugation :)

But I'm confused! The LotR set card Lost to Legend is a White 'super Unsummon'/return to library spell, which going by your 2021 color pie changes article should count as a pie break, right? You wrote:
'White used to also do this, but it has been removed from White.'
It's supposed to be exclusive to Blue, right? Was this a deliberate pie break or an oversight? Is this kind of effect to be expected more in White or Blue going forward?

It’s a bend, and not something white regularly does any more.

What happened to that dog/dinosaur thing wearing Weakstone in the Antiquities art? Did he survive the war?

I like to think so.

Urza Lore Query

New 01 Nov 2022 Asked by lazcarno 53 Comments

Why does the new Urza card become a planeswalker by merging with the Mightstone and the Weakstone? I thought that in the story Urza's spark ignited due to him setting off the Sylex Blast (ie at the horror at what he had done). Wasn't it KARN who became a planeswalker using the Mightstone and Weakstone?

The mightstone and weakstone became his eyes when that change happened.

Urza's Color Choice

New 31 Oct 2022 Asked by jjustin1379 46 Comments

In some of the art urzas magic is represented by green energy and mishra red. Why isnt urza represented by blue since he is primarily a blue mage. None of his cards were even blue so why this strange aesthetic

The mightstone is red and the weakstone is green, and those were established long ago.

Urza Cost Coincidence

New 30 Sep 2022 Asked by belteshazzar98 74 Comments

Urza, Planeswalker costs 15 mana (3 for Urza, 5 for the The Mightstone and Weakstone, 7 to meld) and two specific cards to get into play. B.F.M. also costs 15 mana and two specific cards to get into play. Happy coincidence or deliberate nod?

There are no coincidences. : ) (Okay, sometimes there are.)

Sum Greater

New 30 Sep 2022 Asked by evileyeball 38 Comments

After seeing the might Stone and the weak Stone this seems to be a case where the sum is truly greater than its parts. Because the mightstone and the weakstone is a much greater card than mightstone or weakstone individually. The Vorthos in my is loving all of this btw

: )

Reserved List Logic

New 23 Oct 2012 Asked by vickysaurus 3 Comments

What are the possible reasons a card ended up on the reserved list? Because while cards like the power 9 and other horribly overpowered cards, ante cards, and weird things like Shahrazad and Chaos Orb makes sense, there's also cards like Urza's Miter, Weakstone, a whole bunch of Legends legends, and Ebon Praetor on there that are not overpowered (a lot of them are underpowered, though) nor completely unfitting in modern rules.

80% of all rares of the affected sets were put on the Reserved List. (Note: I’m doing this from memory so 80% might not be exact, but it’s close if it isn’t.) To answer the next question, R&D picked which 20% didn’t go on the list.
