Ravnica Reprint Choices

New 10 Feb 2013 Asked by deathcloud86 15 Comments

In Return to Ravnica and Gatecrash, why weren't there more reprints from the original Ravnica block? I love the new sets but it feels like a missed opportunity to not put cards like Lightning Helix (over Martial Glory), Putrefy (over Rights of Reaping), Remand (over Syncopate), Faith's Fetters (over Arrest), etc. in. It could only have helped made limited, constructed, and casual play more awesome while having the nostalgic feel long time players enjoy.

The cards players remember the most tend to be the most powerful. We wanted to make the best cards in this format new cards from this block rather than repeats from the last Ravnica block. Remember, the block’s not over yet.

Martial Glory Explanation

Is Martial Glory worded as it is to be more obvious what each color brings to the table ?

A little but it was more about being a mirror to Agony Warp (from Shards of Alara).

Color Wheel Quirks

New 22 Jan 2013 Asked by benkaestnerfrenchman 14 Comments

I think it's interesting how Lightning Helix was a very red effect + a very white effect and ended up being a card that could easily be black, and Martial Glory is a very red effect + a very white effect and ended up being a card that closely resembles a green card.

Quirky how the color wheel works.

I really like how Martial Glory is a mirror of Agony Warp!
