Could you ever print a legit card with the name Propsoal, Splendid Genesis, or Fraternal Exaltation?

I guess technically we could, but I doubt we ever would.

Unique Cards Standard

New 01 Nov 2015 Asked by waflman7 21 Comments

Do you think we will see Proposal, Splendid Genesis, or Fraternal Exaltation in a standard legal set any time soon? Or are they too overpowered for standard?

I’m not sure power level is what’s keeping them from being printed in a Standard-legal set. These cards were all made by Richard Garfield to celebrate different big events (his proposal and the birth of his two children). The rules text is flavorful but not exactly rules compliant.

I own both.

Richard Garfield made the card to celebrate the birth of his son (the second and final of his children).

Proud Memorabilia

Do you have any Magic memorabilia that you're particularly proud of? Do you have any displayed at home?

I have a bunch of things. In my den, I have four original pieces of art: Maro from Mirage by Stewart Griffin, Jester’s Sombrero from Unglued by Dan Frasier, Mise from Unhinged by Matt Cavotta (a birthday present) and Look At Me, I’m the DCI from Unglued by some hack.  I also have both of Richard Garfield’s birth announcement cards (Splendid Genesis and Fraternal Exaltation) as well as all sorts of odds and ends.

Gatherer Inclusions

New 14 Dec 2012 Asked by yatesc 2 Comments

If you can get the holiday cards into Gatherer, could you also see about getting 1996 World Champion, Shichifukujin Dragon, Proposal, Splendid Genesis, Fraternal Exaltation, and Robot Chicken put in?

The first two possibly as they are Magic cards done in the context of Magic business. The next three are definitely a no as they were private things done by Richard Garfield (to propose and celebrate the birth of his two kids). The last was something we did as a thank you for some help we got from the Robot Chicken people. That wouldn’t be in Gatherer but possibly could be a Magic Arcana.

Special Cards History

New 25 Sep 2012 Asked by tgva8889 32 Comments

I hear a lot about the special cards Richard Garfield made to commemorate special events in his life. Do you know how many different ones were actually made and what their names are?

He made three. Proposal was the first one. It was white and he used it to propose to his girlfriend Lily. Splended Genesis was made to celebrate the birth of his first child, a girl named Terry. The card was green. Fraternal Exaltation was made to celebrate the birth of his second child, a boy named Schuyler. The card was blue. I’ve joked with Richard that I’ll take care of Eulogy. That will be a black card.

Mental Magic Legality

Are Shichifukujin Dragon, 1996 World Champion, Splendid Genesis, and Fraternal Exaltation legal in Mental Magic?

Depends on your house rules, but generally no. For example, you cannot use them with Richard Garfield, Ph.D. (from Unhinged - it lets you basically play Mental Magic).

Valuable Personal Card

New 16 Apr 2012 Asked by chaospudding 6 Comments

What's the most valuable card you personally own?

I’m guessing Splendid Genesis, the card Richard made when his daughter was born. I also have Fraternal Exaltation, the card he made when his son was born but there were less Splendid Genesises printed.
