Dualcaster Mage

Understanding Saw In Half Interactions

Please help! I have a rules question about Saw In Half, and I don’t know where else to go. The example is if an opponent has a Viscera Seer, and you target it with a Saw In Half, then cast Dualcaster Mage. The Dualcaster Mage makes a copy of Saw In Half, and targets itself with the copy. Your opponent then responds by sacrificing their Viscera Seer, what happens next? Can you stop making Dualcaster Mages in any way? Or does the game become a draw?

Not my area of expertise, but I believe the game becomes a draw.EDIT: See the notes for a much better answer.

Red Snapcaster Possibility

Listening to your podcasts on the Invitational, you said you feel Snapcaster Mage would be more of a red card than a blue one if R&D had designed it. Have you ever tried putting a red Snapcaster Mage into a set, or has that ship sailed with the printing of the thematically-similar Dualcaster Mage instead?

We might do a red tweak one day.

Red's Flash Capability

Can red have flash? Or is Dualcaster Mage a violation of the color pie?

White, black and red are all allowed to have flash on occasion. Usually because they have an “enter the battlefield” effect that needs it.

Flash Mechanic Allocation

Flash is supposed to be primary in blue and secondary in green. What are your thoughts on Dualcaster Mage and Containment Priest in this light?

White, black and red have it tertiary. They are allowed to get it when they really need it to make a creature work, usually when it has an instant-like “enter the battlefield” effect.
