MTGO and Clocknapper

New 16 Apr 2024 Asked by lrddphn 25 Comments

Do you think MTGO could handle Clocknapper? (Unstable card that lets you steal one part of your opponents turn). It's a paper Vintage Cube powerhouse that I think deserves a spot in the MTGO cube.

MTGO usually requires the cards to work within the rules which Clocknapper does not.

Silver Border in Eternal

Re: silver border in eternal
I had meant to ask if there were any EXISTING silver-bordered cards that could work in eternal, but you wouldn’t want to bring in due to things like power level? Things like spike, Johnny, clocknapper, etc.

Spike is a good example of a card that probably could work, but we wouldn’t want it in Eternal.

Possibility of Black Border Clocknapper Effect

Could we get a Clocknapper effect in black border?

I first proposed it for a black-border set. It’s in Unstable because I couldn’t do it in black border.

Unusual Commanders Tale

New 16 Dec 2017 Asked by joslifer1 40 Comments

This may not be a silver-bordered story you want, but I pulled off the Clocknapper combo I wanted in the first Commander game I played with it. I had Clocknapper on the field, and a Modular Monstrosity with Triple Strike. I then cast Stolen Identity, encoding the spell on Modular Monstrosity and copying Clocknapper. When the copy entered the battlefield, I stole my opponent's beginning phase, then I went to combat and copied Clocknapper 3 more times, essentially stealing the rest of his turn. =D

It’s a cool story.

Clocknapper Land Drop Rules

New 15 Dec 2017 Asked by lgosvse 19 Comments

If I use Clocknapper to steal an opponent's precombat main phase, and I play a land during that main phase, does that count as my opponent's land drop for the turn? Or are they still able to play one during the postcombat main phase?

They can still play one. You played the land not your opponent.

No, their turn ends as normal.

Themed Clocknapper Effects

New 23 Nov 2017 Asked by randomyoce 15 Comments

Themed Clocknapper questions: If I cast a card with an effect "until the end of your next turn" and then steal my opponent's Ending Phase, does my effect end because I had another "end of turn"? Do my "until your next turn" effects finish because I'm having a bit of a turn when I steal a phase?

Effects end regardless of who controls the end of turn phase.

if I steal all of my opponent's turn phases for a given turn from them with Clocknapper, is it still considered their turn even though I have all the phases in it?

Yes.
