Body Double

Hour of Eternity Query

Is Hour of Eternity a break in the same line as Body Double?

It was playing into a mechanic of the set that was bending in that direction. I don’t think we’d print it in a vacuum.

Hybrid Mana Considerations

New 18 Jul 2023 Asked by sgjuxta 45 Comments

Question, as someone who is dipping my toes into trying to homebrew a Magic set with a relatively heavy hybrid mana theme, would a card like Body Double work as a blue/black hybrid card? I know black doesn't normally get clone effects and blue doesn't normally get to reanimate creatures, but this effect kinda sits at the junction of the two. I'm just not sure whether it would be an actual break, or just a fairly heavy bend. Thanks!

Hybrid effects need to exist in the overlap space between two colors (aka they both can do it as a monocolored card), not the space in between two colors.

Is Body Double a color pie break? It seems really similar to a reanimation spell.

It’s a severe bend from Planar Chaos.

It’s very close to reanimation, so probably black could do it.

Planar Chaos 2.0 Concept

The recent mention of Planar Chaos have me thinking... One day, could a theoretical (and supplemental) Planar Chaos 2.0 instead of shifting things into colors they shouldn't, could it instead take older effects and shift them to where they would be in the modern color pie? For example, a Black Body Double

I’m not sure there’s a whole color balanced set to be made.

Body Double Bend Analysis

New 24 Mar 2019 Asked by nouser1000-blog 28 Comments

I remember you saying on an Hour of Devastation article that Hour of Eternity was a bend, since it was almost as if blue was copying creatures from your own graveyard. Is Body Double bending so much it breaks because it's referring to any player's graveyard?

Body Double is a bend, not a break.

Body Double and Black

"Is the card 'Body Double' something that could fit in Black's color pie?'Black doesn’t need it. It has reanimation.'" Q: But what if black wants it?

Colors can’t always get what they want, but if they try sometime they find they get what they need.
