Bident of Thassa

Legendary Type Complexity

New 16 Jul 2023 Asked by shadowstar91 42 Comments

"The rules can’t handle a permanent on the battlefield being an instant or sorcery." Okay, fair enough. How about if/when on a "Legendary Enchantment Artifact Creature"? We've gotten 3 of those one card with the original Theros God weapons(ex; Whip of Erebos or Bident of Thassa) but now let's get all 4!

If. I don’t know that could fit on a type line, especially if the creature needs a creature type. “Legendary Enchantment Creature - God” barely fit.

Tolski's Green Design Explanation

New 26 Dec 2020 Asked by celestial-uran 66 Comments

Was there an expectation when Tolski was designed that players would make the comparison to Coastal Piracy, Bident of Thassa, and Reconnaissance Mission and question why it was green?

The ability is primary blue, so blue more often grants it to multiple creatures, but the ability is secondary in green, so that means green can do it.

Speaking of Bident of Thassa, what is the flavor reason behind blue being able to force attacks?

Mind control.

Color Pie Attributes

Bident of Thassa has an activated ability that forces creatures to attack. Isn't that a red effect and not a blue one?

It’s in both blue and red’s color pie.

Gods' Weapons Naming

New 30 Aug 2013 Asked by swmystery27 4 Comments

Is there a reason why the weapons of the gods (the Bident of Thassa, for instance) do not have the names given in the Planeswalker's Guide to Theros? It seems to be a bit of a flavour miss, like if you missed the names off the gods themselves.

They didn’t all fit. We tried.

Theros Frame Explanation

New 29 Aug 2013 Asked by greekos576 21 Comments

Hi MaRo! Theros looks awesome! Q: you said that the new frame represents Enchantment Creatures but "Bident of Thassa" isn't a creature but has the new frame. I assume all Enchantments are printed that way? - is this going to be an evergreen feature for enchantment going onwards? Thx!

You are correct. The new frames are permanents that have two types, one of which is enchantment. Enchantment artifacts do get the frame.
