Common Boardwipe Rules

Midweek magic on arena gave us a temporary historic pauper queue. I wanted to try out a classic dimir control deck but could not find something crucial to control decks, namely, a boardwipe. What is holding design back to print weird weak boardwipes like Taste of Death or Aetherize at common?

One of our rules about common cards is we try not to make 2 for 1’s.

Blue vs White Discrepancy

I don't think you understood what I meant by the discrepancy between blue and white for commander, blue has creature removal, stifle, creature stealing, counterspells, battle tricks removing all attackers(aetherize) big evasive creatures, interactions with all artifacts, etc while white has fewer big multiplayer relevant effects and the few it does have are made far less frequently (other than wraths) so that white has a smaller variety of the few options they have, It's not old card power level

While there are some effects blue did in early Magic that it no longer does, this question seems to be disingenuous. You list thing blue does and just skip over all the things white does. For example, White can destroy every permanent type while Blue can destroy no permanent types (technically save creatures when it’s transforming them). I don’t mind arguing color comparisons, but you have to be honest in your evaluations.

Spellmorph Tension

I think you underestimate the tension of spellmorph. You might be scared to alpha strike because that 2/2 could be an aetherize or equivalent, or you may be scared of putting anything on the stack because it might be a counter.

We didn’t underestimate it. We designed cards and played with them. They are better in concept than execution.
