What's the relationship between Nightveil Specter & Thief of Sanity?

Second cousins. : )

Do you think it's a color pie break that Thief of Sanity's "colorless mana" clause allows you to have effects not in blue/black (such as artifact removal)?

You have no control over whether or not the cards are in the deck, so it’s okay. It’s like how black can animate dead creatures out of the opponent’s graveyard.

I just wanted to say that I love theif of sanity, it and Gonti have been my favorite cards in recent sets.

I’m getting a lot of notes from Thief of Sanity fans.

Thief of Sanity Feedback

Mark, Thief of Sanity ruins games for me nearly all the time. Please cut back on cards like that in the future. I literally don't want to play Magic anymore for fear of running into that incredibly unfun card.

Stealing the opponent’s spells out of their deck is something we do pretty infrequently. I’m curious what others thought of Thief of Sanity. Do you like it or not? Why?

Wording Consistency

Can you retire wording like on Stolen Strategy of "you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color" and only use the Hostage Taker and Thief of Sanity ("you may spend mana as though it were mana of any type") wording from now on? Kozilek thanks you. Same for using Incubation Druid text instead of Oasis Ritualist's or treasure tokens?

We want to choose language that maximizes comprehension of the ability. That is prioritized over working with colorless mana as that is a very tiny case use.

Thief of Sanity Mechanics

Why was Thief of Sanity made so that the cards it steals can still be cast after it leaves the battlefield? I dislike designs like that because it makes me feel like my opponent is playing with my deck as well as their own.

The Thief of Sanity stole the spell and gave it to its controller. They still have it even if the Thief goes away.

Guilds of Ravnica Event

I LOVED guilds of ravnica prerelease! It was so cool how with the right pool you could build a legit, functioning control deck! Built a durdly grixis deck where the stars where hypothesizzle and artful takedown, took second out of 88 people and only lost to a couple misplays on my part. My niv-mizzet and thief of sanity were really fun wincons, thanks for the awesome prerelease :)

I think Erik and his Set Design team, along with Play Design, made very compelling limited gameplay. Wait until you get to draft it!
